This is a bang, not a whimper. Patricia Petibon is no doubt a stunning soprano. Her voice is radiant, confident and strong. Perhaps too strong on occasions so you are well advised to keep the volume control handy. Most of the repertoire is well chosen and helps to bring the best in the singer. All the same, I would love to hear someday how Ms Petibon handles Handel. However, judging from this record's vocal fireworks, we are more likely to hear Ms Petibon singing Puccini or Verdi next than good old GFH. Please, no duets with Ms Netrebko, though.

Great voice and good variety on the disc. I predicted it would win an award, bought it, and it did gain best vocal BBC. Good price again.
