4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely book for semi newbies 26 Jun 2008
Having got my basic skills from Happy Hooker (outstanding instructions) this book gives you plenty scope for some seriously cute animals, which you can finish in a couple of hours (pros probably go a bit quicker). Once you've got the hang of a few basic stiches (mainly crocheting rounds and increasing and decreasing), it's just a question of selecting some lovely yarn and going for it.
The book is American (as is Happy Hooker) so some UK crocheters may struggle with having to convert between the different terminology for stitches. I found it okay as I don't know the UK system anyway and all the funky amigurmi books seem to be American

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally the wait is over 3 Mar 2008
I have been waiting for this book to be published and finally the day has come :))
I am going to recommend it to people who already know how to crochet amis and to those who have never had a crocheting hook in their hands yet.
I have been purchasing individual crocheting patterns from Ana Paula Rimoli for a while now and I have always found them cutest, easy, well explained and so quick to make. At this stage most of my friends own something crocheted by me using
Ana's patterns and in fact I have a "presents" waiting list:) (yes, the toys are that cute!!!)
To sum up the value of the book is very good (comparing to many Japanese amigurumi books which cost about the same but have only few patterns) - lots of very cute, inexpensive, various projects and they are:
Valentine bears, baby lion and his daddy, puppy and his daddy (my favourite!!!!), baby monkey and her daddy, baby penguin and her mommy, baby owl and her mommy, baby hedgehog and her mommy, boy and girl elephants, baby octopus and her mommy, mrs and mr cactus (great!!), happy eggs, smiling desserts, tiny amis (6 toys), little pear, little apple and worm as well as crocheting instruction and crocheting terms explained for those who have never crocheted before.
I am hooked on crocheting now and can only hope that the book is the first one of many more to come!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cute.. Fun.. and Easy =) 31 May 2008
I absolutely adore this book. The patterns are so simple and easy to follow. Most of them work up really fast as well.

Ana Paula Rimoli was one of my most favourite designers before I got this book and she is even more so now that I have the book!

I can't wait for her next one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just as cute as promised 26 Dec 2011
By Julie
I got this one "instead of a flower" for Christmas. I love to crochet while watching TV and I must admit, that I already have 3-5 other amigurumi books on the shelf. The instructions in these books in general are so easy to understand and due to lack of patience I have a weak heart for the really small ones like these. I must say that the little details like extra long ears on the rabbit, dress on the teddy bear etc. makes the little fellas in this particular book extra cute! My daughter is 5 and is off to birthdays with her friends many times a year. Zhu zhus and Littlest Petshop, Sylvanians etc. are always on the wishlists - but it adds up to quite a lot during the year. Lately, I have tried a homemade version of this, simply making 3 little mice or other amigurumi friends, a few crochet cupcakes and Oreos and wrapped it all in a cute caketin or cardboard box. My daughter is proud to give it away and the birthday girl LOVES it. These projects are small enough to be made from scraps and big enough to be played with. I use them for keyhangers, christmas ornaments and babystuff as well. I can recommend this book to both beginners, grandparents and of course: The rest of us.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok but... 5 Jan 2012
A lovely book with lots of patterns and great photos. My only negative comment about the book is that not enough is said about hook sized. When doing Amigurumi you need to use a hook much smaller than normal to create a really dense structure.
