stunning atmospheres and guitar playing 'postcards of USA',
By A Customer
This review is from: Americana (Audio CD)
Michael is a stunning guitar player. This album where he puts down musical impressions of a trip through America is one his best. A glorious mix of that distinctive Chapman guitar (electric and acoustic) given space to breathe, brooding precussion and rich atmosphere. Lose yourselves in the foot tapping brilliance of A strangers map of texas, or the deeply evocotive Swamp. If Cds were sold on quality rather than on spin and image then Americana would be on every highstreet and high in the charts.

A Yorkshireman gone west !,
By Michael Irwin - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Americana (Audio CD)
This is more vintage Michael Chapman, but without the vocals. As in its successor, Americana II, Michael captures a little of the essence of each place without appearing to change either his style or his virtuosity.
For those new to Michael Chapman: this can be difficult music to get to like - and very difficult to play ! - but it grows on you, and will be as rewarding to listen to after you've had the LP or CD for nigh on 40 years. There's precious few that you can say that about. |
