The frequent uses of his music on soundtracks— including the hit NBC show Scrubs (on which he has also had several cameos) and the sleeper-hit soundtrack to the film Garden State—have proven the timeless appeal of his songs: quizzical, curious, cynical yet open-hearted.
American Sunshine is a multifaceted portrait of Colin Hay the performer, songwriter, and recording artist. Within its eleven tracks are some of the heftiest rock, purest pop, and most emotionally bare acoustic balladry Hay has yet laid down, all guided by his uncluttered songwriting and his instantly recognizable voice. “My last record [2007’s Are You Lookin’ At Me?] was the first new album I’d done in a long time,” he explains. “In a way, it felt like my first solo album. I’m still learning, and I learned a lot on that record. This one is definitely a step up in terms of the quality of the songs and the sounds we captured.” Combine that with his tireless touring and Hay is poised to enter a new phase in his already storied career.

Have all Men at Work albums and all 10 of Colin's. A truely gifted singer/songwriter. Saw him and met him last year when he did a concert in London. Enjoyable album and excellent gig. Buy his albums and see him in concert when he returns this year.

It's a while since Mr Hay's last album (May 2007)
I needed a fix of chilled quality singer songwriter entertainment
Its early days but he has delivered that fix for me
Its only 4* because as I said about "Are you looking at me"
Some tracks you will like some you will love
As an introduction to Colin Hay it will give you a taste of his quality
It will introduce you to; an honesty & laid back vibe that is infectious
As always if you need a Troubadour to make what ever journey you're on a little more laid back Colin Hay is the man

After listening to a couple of Albums which I really like I was looking forward to this one !.
Apart from one Track I think colin is going through the motions , his earlier albums are better " Are you looking at me " and the supurb "Men At Work"
