Drama about the horrors of modern war, set in Iraq in 2004 and directed by Sidney J. Furie. A squad of young American soldiers are on a routine patrol in the dangerous streets of downtown Baghdad when they come under sustained attack from local militia units. Before long, the soldiers are in the middle of a desperate fight for their lives, as the militia use their superior local knowledge to outwit the Americans and force them into harrowing close-quarter combat. The troops are forced to use all of their training and skills to survive as they wait for relief.

By A. Cresswell TOP 1000 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
This film made me want to hurl. Seriously. I can't tell you how bad this film is ... so BUY IT and discover it for yourself. There is just so many cheesy, apple polishing, poor american soldier makes good moments I wanted to throw-up. It's not the endless whining and the "why are we here man ?" moments that drive you to distraction (If I was in that unit I'd want to shoot them ... never mind the insurgents) it's just the cliches. From the portrayal of the Iraqi Police Leuitenant who plays the poor dumb farm boy who is saved by the good and righteous american GI who within 10 seconds of walking into the police spots an terrorist infiltrator (yeah right !!! They're all that obvious) to the bit where the squad 'rescue' a Terrorist from the CIA detention camp after seeing him beaten up to extract information. The terrorist actually says he wants to kill all GI's and then when the squad see's him being beaten up by the jailors they threaten the jailors and CIA guards, because as the black token GI says "I know right from wrong" and as another GI says "I didn't sign up for this!" Please ... give me a break ... after losing several of their squad to road IED's and gunfire I'd hardly think they'd be queueing up to rescue iraqi prisoners from a beating. The film producers are either liberals with their heads up their bottoms or so removed from reality it's shameful.

If you want to watch a slightly (not totally) more realistic portrayal... watch the HBO production.... Generation Kill. This is just shameful self pitying and a sad protrayal of american soldiers. I'd be embarrassed to be a GI after this.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible film 5 Oct 2009
This film does not have one redeeming factor. Lousy acting, terrible plot/story, unlimited supplies of ammunitions, invulnerable vehicles, inability to aim one rifle in the right direction and hit a target. Suffice to say I could give a 1000 reasons not to buy this film and absolutely 0 to buy it. However, I still have this film so if anyone wants to buy it from me... :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor - avoid it 7 Dec 2006
There are far better movies and series giving a taste of the war in Iraq through the military eyes. This one is very disappointing. Stay away from it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very realistic combat film 6 May 2006
If you want to know what it would be like to be a soldier in Iraq, buy this film right now, now!! It may not be like "Black hawk down", but it is still a brilliant film; actually more than brilliant. Most of the combat scenes are some of the most realistic I've ever seen, and I've got practically every war film there is to own.

One of the things that makes this film so good is that it dosen't just focus on the american soldiers, it also shows you the skill and sacrifice of the Iraqi police and the suffering of Iraqi civilians. Even though most of the actors in this film are new, the performances they give are better than you can expect. The only bad thing about this film is that most of the terrorists wear the same clothing, but it's not a big deal.

This DVD is worth every penny.
