Product Description

CD Description

Although the authenticity of the Misfits without the distinctive Elvis-in-Hell vocal operatics of founding father GlennDanzig is somewhat doubtful, AMERICAN PSYCHO is a worthy successor to the band's legacy. New vocalist Michael Graves manages a fair evocation of Danzig's bellow, and the traditional backing vocals are still in place, courtesy of Jerry and Doyle.
Most importantly, the songwriting manages to evokethe classic Misfits sound without getting derivative. "Crimson Ghost", "Mars Attacks", and the title track wouldn't have sounded out of place on EARTH A.D., and "Walk Among Us" evokes that classic album without sullying its memory. The guitars are a little meatier and a little more metallic, but the feel of the Misfits is here. Until a real reunion, this will do nicely.

5.0 out of 5 stars back from the grave, 3 Feb 2003
By A Customer
After a split from original vocalist Glenn Danzig, whom formed the band with bassist Jerry Only, the Misfits return with an album worthy of the punk hall of fame.
Reformed by Jerry and brother Doyle with new vocalist Michale Graves and new drummer Dr Chud, after just over a decade the Misfits return with an inspiring album with calssics such as "walk among us", "mars attacks", "the haunting" and "dig up her bones".
A band that inspired the likes of AFI and paved the way for other new GothCore bands returned with a basically briliant offering, this is "American Psycho". The Misfits are back from the grave, fiends everywhere know this, join them in worship.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best punk-rock album of the nineties., 9 Nov 1999
After a fourteen year absence, New Jersey's most ghoulish sons return. Alright, there's no Glenn Danzig but who cares? Michale Graves turns in an impressive performance, not once trying to impersonate the Evil Elvis, but putting his own spin on the classic Misfits sound, which has considerably beefed-up during their absence. Spooky intro "Abominable Dr.Phibes" gives way to the brutal thrash/punk metal title track and from then on, it's heads-down-see-you-at-the-finish-line. Every song is a gem, but highlights include "Don't Open 'Till Doomsday", "Dig Up Her Bones", "Walk Among Us", "From Hell They Came" and the 50's rock n'roll inspired "Day of the Dead". If you've only heard of the Misfits through dodgy Metallica covers, it's time to get down with the groovy ghoulies themselves. Welcome back, boys!

5.0 out of 5 stars American Psycho - The Dead are Ressurected in style!, 6 July 2004
American Psycho-The long awaited return of goth Legends the Misfits. As a huge fan of the original Misfits(1977-1983) I did not have much hope of this album living up to the standard of their earlier releases. The Misfits had returned with a much heavier sound, a new singer(Michael Graves) and a new drummer(Dr. Chud).

Having loved all the original 4 albums, I decided to give American Psycho a listen, and this by no means whatsoever was this a mistake. This was the greatest 17 songs i had ever had the pleasure of listening to! This album was nothing short of a rare find! How often do you find an album where the new singer sounds as amazing as the original, the whole band work together as if they had been doing so all their life and every single song is absolutley amazing from the horrific start to the frightening end!

All the songs on this album are beyond extrordinary, but the tracks that really ressurected my soul were 'Dig up her bones', 'Ressurection', 'This Island Earth', 'Day of the Dead', 'Haunting','Hate the living, Love the Dead', 'Shining' and 'Dont open til Doomsday'. American Psycho has to be the greatest album I have ever been honoured to listen to. It is a work of art; a masterpiece, a landmark in Rock History! If you are a big fan of the original misfits then do not be afraid to give this a listen! If I hadn't taken that chance I would have missed out on the greatest comeback status a band has ever been fortunate enough to achieve! The Misfits are back from their cold, damp graves and theyre rockin more so now than they have ever done before! This is American Psycho my fellow Fiends, & dont you forget it!

I was apprehensive about this album to say the least - isn't a Misfits reunion without Glenn Danzig as bad as one of the old Motorhead line-ups reforming without Lemmy? Read more
