Book Description

1 Jan 2004
J.J.Dance's first novel is a parody of casinos and action movies. Glitz, glamour and guts overflow in this pythonesque romp from a man who has seen at first hand almost all the tricks. For a talentless busker with a one-stringed guitar freedom cannot come soon enough. From a Mexican jail breakout to the big-time in Las Vegas. Max Chancey takes on Russian mafia, Chinese hoods, a cocaine-snorting Senator and even the S&M inventor of a giant slot machine of unparalleled insanity.

Review

...a great read. Short on pulp but packed with action. -- Casino International Magazine, December,2003

About the Author

JJDance was introduced to casinos at an early age - children's parties at the fabled Playboy Casino in Park Lane, London - so it is hardly surprising that the author followed in his South American father's footsteps and entered the Gaming profession as soon as he was old enough to obtain a licence.

His subsequent career has taken him from dealing to management and to many parts of the world including South Africa, Russia, Peru, Turkey and Cyprus, as well as cruising in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean.

He has experienced at first hand the glitzy Vegas-style entertainment complexes, the staid atmosphere required by present U.K. licensing laws, and the darker side of gambling such as the Russian mafias.

Born 1967 in London, JJDance works in the gaming industry in the South of England where he lives with his charming Russian wife.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heh heh 9 Jun 2004

What a cracking laugh. Not sure what the author was on, but I'd like to shake his hand. One of the most consistently twisted and funny books I've read since Tom Sharpe. In fact the looks I've had from my fellow tube passengers over the last week, with my increasingly manic laughter, has been worth the price alone.

A thoroughly gratifying diversion.

This book is a rollercoaster ride from start to finish.
Max Chancey`s life (lead role) is full of excitement, danger and intrigue. My sides were splitting in parts just like his poor victims.
Its like Tarrantino cross monty python on acid. This is a must read if you live life to the Max!
