What is about American Idiot that makes it so likable? It's that guitar hook which carries right the way through the song that just works its way into your mind until you've fallen completely in love with the song. It's short but that's part of its strength - 3 minutes of unashamedly catchy and fun music that just typifies Green Day. The b-side is pretty decent too.
I think this song introduced a lot of people to just how amazing Green Day are and i think it also surprised people that a band that had been going so long could still produce such great songs that were so relevant to the time they became the sound that defined the year. It's weird to think this song was all the way back in 2004 now, it still sounds awesome and i can't wait to hear more from the Green Day guys.
