Pure Fun Rock & Roll 5 April 2008
By Justin Gaines - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
There's a rock & roll revival going on in America, with bands like Lynam, Airbourne, Lost City Angels, Endeverafter, and this band - American Heartbreak - bringing back the kind of pure, fun, rock & roll we all grew up with but mainstream radio is keeping off the airwaves.

American Heartbreak, which includes former members of Jetboy and Exodus, plays ultra-melodic, poppy, upbeat rock & roll along the lines of the New York Dolls, Starz, Moxy, T-Rex and most especially Cheap Trick. This is just pure, fun, rock & roll. The band does come across as a bit too polished at times. I think a slightly raunchier, heavier sound would give them a bit more edge, but that's a minor complaint about an album that's way too much fun to listen to.

If your idea of great rock & roll is the kind of music you play at full volume while singing along in the car with your friends (the opening of That 70's Show comes to mind), then you're absolutely going to love American Heartbreak. You can sing along to just about every song on this superfun album from the very first spin.

PS - Greatest. Cover. Ever.
These Songs Stuck In My Head For Days! 26 Mar 2011
By Cory T. Shaeffer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This band has a great sound, similar to Cheap Trick with a touch of AC/DC and Bad Company added into the mix. Immediately after listening to the album, the track "Sick N Tired" was stuck in my head for three days. This band is part of what has become an uprising for the classic rock sound. Bands like Lynam, Airbourne, Wig Wam, Reckless Love, Crazy Lixx, and The Last Vegas are all returning rock music back to the heydays of the 1980's when there was good times and great music.

American Heartbreak is not "hair metal" by any stretch, but you can hear a ton of both 70's and 80's rock influences throughout the songs. The vocalist is similar to Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, and they let loose for a good guitar solo here and there, as well as break into a "jam band" on occasion, too.

This is a layered, melodic, rocking album with clever lyrics and tight performances. It will be right up your alley if you are a fan of any of the bands I mentioned above. The sound samples sound great, but nothing can do this album justice until you hear it for yourself. It would have sounded great on the radio twenty years ago, and it will sound good twenty years from now.

Awesome!!!!!!!!!!! This album is worth every penny 16 Sep 2006
By P. ZABEL - Published on Amazon.com

I always say if there are at least three songs on a CD that I like then I feel like I got my moneys worth. This album is the opposite. I have a hard time finding 3 songs I don't like. This is just a great rock album, no question. I bought this album after hearing Michael Butler and the Rock and Roll Geek Show podcast.

Thanks Michael.
