Great collection but it's a shame they didn't put the 16 tracks of the original 1984 album on disc 1 with additional tracks on disc 2.
Tracks on the vinyl AH which are not in this set:
+ Toto -- Africa
+ Journey -- Who's Crying Now
+ Survivor -- Eye of the Tiger
+ Split Enz -- I Got You
+ Wang Chung -- Dance Hall Days
Peeps seem unhappy about Billy Idol appearing because he's a Brit. But he's not alone - these bands are/were British (or predominantly British):
-- Air Supply -- Asia -- Bad Company -- Foreigner -- Whitesnake -- Yes --
Other non-US:
-- Santana (Mexico) -- B.T.O.(Canada) --
Also, on the '84 release:
-- Split Enz (NZ) -- Wang Chung (UK) --
My two cents: I take the "theme" to be US "Album Oriented Rock" radio of the late 70s/early 80s: The time when AOR radio became prominent in the States and British bands with the "FM rock" sound were on the playlists. Hence Billy Idol and the rest.
You can't beat a bit of Cheesy Rock, Grommit!

Awesome selection of songs, each one making you want to crank up the volume and sing your heart out. The mood swings from gut wrenching ballads to full rock mode and back again. Fantastic! Thought Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell" was a bit random.

this is a good album but does have songs different to the original,

Awesome
I had the tape in the eighties and played it until it was so worn that it snapped. Have looked for it several times since on CD but to no avail. Glad its back. Read more

Great Compliation for AOR enthusiasts
Great songs - the original was relatively compact (believe it was only 16 songs) as it was from the ye olde vinyl /cassette days where you only had an hour tops. Read more
