i bought this film im ashamed to say based on my love of bradley cooper and as he was even shown as the entire front cover assumed he starred in the film, how wrong was i, he is rarely in it at all and when he is he seems to struggle with the bland and uninspired script.this dvd also came up in the horror section of amazin, i can tell you now there is no horror not even a spooky moment to be had so a complete dissapointment. this is more of a tv movie film you would expect to see on a saturday affternoon on the true movies channel that you may consider watching if its raining and all the ironing has been done !
it is based on some ( and i say some in loosest possible sense ) facts of how the americans treated the native indian children but thats about all. not a film i will be watching again.

Before you come to the conclusion that I'm only giving this film one star because it's what everyone else is doing, I assure you that this is the worst films I have personally ever seen. I'm one of the biggest fans of horror your ever likely to meet. From video games series like resident evil and silent hill to horror films from Asia, I've seen and played the best horror on the planet so I know good horror when I see it. This is not good horror. This is a joke. The acting is pathetic from most of the cast and even cooper doesn't shine, but that probably has more to do with the rubbish script he has to work with. Even the direction is unbelievably poor, with several scenes that could have been cut almost entirely from the film without it harming the films plot. (which is also garbage in case you were wondering.) To be honest, I know I've been a little hard on this film, and who knows, maybe some people might even be able to squeeze some enjoyment out of it, but you should know before buying that this film isn't scary at all, so if your expecting to be jumping out of your seat every minute forget about it. I actually laughed out loud twice at the films attempts at horror which is never a good sign. I decided recently to watch most of my old horror films again. These included masterpieces like Dark Water, Ju-On, Ring and A Tale Of Two Sisters. A few weeks later I went over to my friends house and he had just bought this movie so we decided to watch it together. Throughout most of the film, all I could think about was how laughable it was that this film probably had a higher budget than all those films ive just mentioned, and this was still the best they could do. And the biggest problem with this film? Well that would have to be the way they drag the film out for nearly two hours.Read more ›

Well I've finally found a film worse than 2012. I can't find anything good to say about this. No story, shocking acting in places. Bradley cooper must be a mate of the director. I could edit him out of the film in 5 minutes and you wouldn't notice it. Feels like a 1980s flop that gets shown on a Wednesday afternoon on itv2. No horror or tension at all. Within 10 mins you realise what they are working toward with the plot but you hope and assume there will be a twist. There isn't. That's it. It's a "something terrible happened here" film. The addition of the native Americans feels like they were trying to de cliche it and make a point about the plight of the native Americans. The cynic in me felt they weren't even native Americans but Hollywood bit actors with clip on pony tails. The cover is a blatant Bradley cooper cash in. Some performances are painful but that could be the dodgy script. Bad bad bad

I think the reviewer above was being generous in awarding this movie 2 stars!Honestly,it's one of the most boring dvds i've ever had the misfortune to watch.Don't be fooled by the intriguing cover,...as i was!
Even the normally excellent Bradley Cooper seems to sleepwalk through his role.Buy it(cheap)as a cure for insomnia but otherwise, save your dosh!

I feel the need to make some comment on the movie as well to relativize all the negative critics a little (and I hereby apologize for grammar mistakes as I am not English ;-). I was somehow shocked when I realized how the movie is promoted in the UK and as well here in Germany - the title of it has changed from the original "Older than America", and so has the original cover. And the promotion text is so stupid and totally misleading I can only shake my head. I can understand that someone who wants to watch a good horror movie is disappointed by this. Also people expecting Bradley Cooper to be the lead role - the lead role definitely is Georgina Lightning and maybe Adam Beach...
The film is NOT, I repeat NOT a horror movie. I don't think the intention of the writer/director was to make a horror movie. It is more of a story on how the Indian children were mistreated in the Native American boarding schools and the effect it had/has until today. Some parts are indeed a little bit "spooky", but in Native American live spirituality and visions play a big role and visions are considered as "real". It is not a perfect movie, but I found it very good and emotional, thinking that the subject on that boarding schools is real - it has happened and it has not happened that long ago, and this could indeed be called horror.
For more reviews you should check under the original movie title "Older than America"!!!!
It is a shame of amazon and/or the Europe promoters of the movie to mislead the viewers through wrong promotion texts and covers!
