It’s a show that continues to fly under the radar of many, and as those who have enjoyed the exploits of American Dad! will happily tell you, that’s very much their loss. For this is a golden animated series, aimed firmly at grown ups, and bursting with quotable lines.
American Dad! centres around the character of Stan Smith, who just happens to work for the CIA, and attempts to keep the world a safe place. He’s accompanied by an alien and a goldfish, and it’s the character of Smith that really gets the show through its quieter moments. Him, and the astounding supporting cast, who generate laughs out of the slightest of situations.
Not that it has too many quieter points to paper over. In this collection of discs, you get 18 episodes in all, and there’s plenty to enjoy. In fact, American Dad! is very firmly in its stride here, with the maturity of the show working in its favour. It’s a little American-centric at times, as you might expect from the show’s title and origin, but it’s still always accessible.
In fact, it’s more than that. American Dad! is arguably one of the most underappreciated television shows of the modern era. And if you’re in any doubt of that, there’s an abundance of evidence in this box set waiting to be uncovered. --Jon Foster

I've watched every episode of this series on the television and it's by far the best American Dad season yet. After a slow start with the early seasons, it has really started to pick up, and in my opinion, it has surpassed family guy. What with the hype surrounding family guy, American Dad doesn't get the praise it deserves, much like Futurama, living in the Simpsons' shadow. As a Brit, I find it much easier to follow than Family guy, there aren't constant references to American celebrities I've never heard of. It's great laughs and a must buy for everyone.

This American Dad season is my very favourite by far. It contains 18 hilarious episodes! The thing I love about American Dad is the way it surpasses Family Guy`s crude and rude way about making people laugh, in Family Guy it is more about poop jokes and gags about celebrities I have never heard of, but American Dad makes humour about more serious things, like recent Presidents of the USA, and with me living in the UK, it gives me a lot of new knowledge about life in the US, while still being humoured.
In this season there are many episodes that are based around movies such as, The Great Space Roaster, Raptures Delight and Return of The Bling. There is a bit more dark humour in this season, Raptures Delight was a hilarious episode in which Jesus has to battle the anti-Christ when all good Christians are raptured and Armageddon begins.
The Smiths go through some funny things in this season too, Roger contemplates killing his family when they give him a roast for his birthday (turning 101), Klaus gets a haircut that turns out terrible, Stan becomes obsessed with a rock band, Francine falls in love with a re-informed Stan robot, Hailey dates a CIA Koala bear and Steve participates in a War re-enactment and becomes paranoid. All this and more!
Buy this season now, and you will be laughing over and over again!

American Dad is still going strong, even at season 6!
Ok, there is the odd episode that isn't quite as good as some of the previous seasons, but all series have that.
Some episodes i really didn't like when I first saw them, but they have grown on me.
The best episodes are (in my opinion):
Shallow Vows - roger 'talks' stan into renewing his vows with francine, but just before the wedding stan reveals he only married francine for her looks. When the wedding day arrives, francine steps out the car looking hideous. The episode is about stan and francine learning more about each other and their relationship, but is really funny.
Rapture's Delight - This seasons christmas episode. When the rapture comes, stan and francine are left behind. Stan tries to get raptured, happy to leave francine behind. She leaves stan for Jesus (who can date this time). But when Francine is kidnapped by the anti-christ, Jesus calls on stan for help.
May the best Stan win - Android stan from the future appears and tells stan he must start training for a future war against the robots. But it quickly becomes apparent that Stan-from-the-future has only come back to steal francine.
those are my 3 favourites from the series, but all of the episodes have their own charm, they are brilliant.
So well worth watching for old fans of the show, and it might even persuade a few people who aren't! a great show all round, and one of my absolute favourites!

American Dad Volume 6
Purchased as a Christmas present. The recipient of this DVD fully appreciated it and was very happy to receive it. It is not my style of humour so I can not give a personal review
