America was a light folk-rock act of the early '70s who had several Top Ten hits, including the number ones "A Horse with No Name" and "Sister Golden Hair." Vocalists/guitarists Dewey Bunnell, Dan Peek, and Gerry Beckley met while they were still in high school in the late '60s; all three were sons of U.S. Air Force officers who were stationed in the U.K. After they ... The wait between brand new America albums is always a painful experience. This one followed on from the fabulous Hourglass after a mere four years, and proved to be another exceptional album. Wednesday Morning, Moment to Moment, Wheels Are Turning and Pages all rank amongst my all time favourite America songs, and are even greatly appreciated by my 14 year old daughter! There's also an excellent medley World Alone, blending different tracks together. The final track Oloololo took me a while to understand what the lyrics were about... until I was on Safari in Kenya and recognised place names. Wonderful.
Sadly America's most recent album Here & Now - a collaboration - was a bit of a disappointment to me, especially after a 10 year wait! Far better was Gerry Beckley's solo album Horizon Fall. America are best when doing it all themselves... Human Nature is such an album and definitely worth adding to your collection.

5.0 out of 5 starsThis has become my favorite AMERICA CD.7 Nov 1998

I have every AMERICA release in my collection so I guess I can be considered a HUGE FAN. After 26 years of producing music you might think that these guys could loose some of their musical edge. This is not the case. This release is every bit as good as any of there previous releases. All the songs are excellent, but my favorites are WEDNESDAY MORNING, FROM A MOVING TRAIN, WHEELS ARE TURNING, and HIDDEN TALENT in that order. If you are an AMERICA fan this album is a must. If your not an AMERICA fan, purchase of this CD will transform you into one. GREAT STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

America disappeared from the recording scene after"PERSPECTIVE" in 1984 which was a big blow for me.The group had provided a steady flow of excellent albums since 1972 of which I'm lucky enough to own all.I was absolutely delighted when"HOURGLASS" made the scene ten years later and now we are blessed with this, their latest album "HUMAN NATURE".A great album which provides strong songs from both Gerry and Dewey. The track "Wednesday Morning" is particularly strong with pleasant characteristics from their early recordings.Other stand-out tracks for me are"From a moving Train","Wheels are Turning" and "Pages" whilst "Hot Town" provides a different slant with its catchy backing vocals - pleasant.A few familiar names appear on the support side - Willie Leacox, Michael Woods, Brad Palmer and the ever appearing Tim Schmit of the "Eagles" on backing vocals. Both Gerry Beckley and Dewey Bunnell prove here that they are still able to write good songs and to perform them at a level which has thrilled many many people throughout the world over the last 27 years.Long Live AMERICA !

Not a bad CD, but I didn't think it was quite as good as their previous studio album (1994's Hourglass). The best songs are From A Moving Train (which made the AC charts in the US and was a hit in Europe), Wednesday Morning, and Wheels Are Turning. Gerry Beckley's songs stand out on this CD. Dewey Bunnell has some good ones and some misses on this one.
