Product Description

Product Description

In the fall of 2009, with the publication of her number 1 national bestselling memoir, Sarah Palin had the privilege of meeting thousands of everyday Americans on her extraordinary 35-city book tour. Inspired by these encounters, her new book, "America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag", celebrates the enduring strengths and virtues that have made the United States great. Framed by her strong belief in the importance of family, faith, and patriotism, the book ranges widely over American history, culture, and current affairs, and reflects on the key values - both national and spiritual-that have been such a profound part of Governor Palin's life and continue to inform her vision of America's future. Written in her own refreshingly candid voice, "America by Heart" will include selections from classic and contemporary readings that have moved her-from the nation's founding documents to great speeches, sermons, letters, literature and poetry, biography, and even some of her favourite songs and movies. Here, too, are portraits of some of the extraordinary men and women she admires and who embody her deep love of country, her strong rootedness in faith, and her profound love and appreciation of family. She will also draw from personal experience to amplify these timely (and timeless) themes - themes that are sure to inspire her numerous fans and readers around the world.

About the Author

Sarah Palin is the former Governor of Alaska, and the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling memoir, Going Rogue, published in November 2009. She grew up in Alaska, where she and her future husband, Todd Palin, graduated from Wasilla High School in 1982. Palin graduated from the School of Journalism at the University of Idaho. She served two terms on the Wasilla City Council, two terms as the city's mayor and manager, and was elected by her peers as president of the Alaska Conference of Mayors. She then chaired the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, and the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. Palin was elected Alaska's youngest, and first female governor, serving from 2006 to 2009. While governor, she was tapped as Senator John McCain's running mate in 2008, becoming the first female Republican vice presidential candidate in our nation's history. The Palins reside in Wasilla with their five children and one grandson. They enjoy an extended family throughout Alaska and the Lower 48.

Sarah Palin's second book may not be of great concern to non-Americans, (I'm English, but have an interest in the American scene) but it will appeal to patriotic Americans who are less than happy at the way their country is going, (as they see it),and who believe in the basics of what she believes. Palin outlines a positive stance in a fluent and energising fashion and writes about freedom, family life and so on.

Simply put, if you're interested you'll like it.Many Americans will to judge from the sales of her first book, Going Rogue - and she's popular. If you're biased - politically or see Palin negatively - then maybe you won't. It's difficult to be objective with such a book as this. I'm at least interested, hence the rating given is personal.

Awful book 1 Dec 2010
By N. Butt
Format:Kindle Edition
An absolutely awful book from start to finish. Typical patronizing or should that be Palinizing manner. This has to be the worst book that I have read in many a year. Not worth receiving for free let alone the price being asked! One to avoid.

Oo baby! 14 Dec 2010
By Radikl
Format:Hardcover
Amazon is normally excellent when it comes to providing good links across related products, but on having searched for 'NAZIs a Warning from History' for research purposes I was intrigued to find this work linked to my search. I was launched on a fascinating enquiry into how this mild mannered house frau from Alaska, Americaland managed to be associated with the politically incorrect NSDAP of 1930's fame, only to realise that perhaps this could be a real historical gem. Indeed many of her target audience - disenfranchised lower middle class white people have a lot in common with those Germans of yesteryear. Her thesis is simple and so was theirs. A most insightful cross cultural read that really helps me to see how human beings are so similar despite the separation of time and continent. Has she modestly unleashed a truly internationalist concept of brotherly love. Thank you Ms P. PS I wonder if she has released a recipe book for blueberry muffins?
