Purity

Help protect your breast milk and your baby from bacteria, mould and viruses. Ameda has the world's only breastpump with a proven protective barrier. Proven Airlock Protection means our unique diaphragm prevents the air from your pump from coming into contact with your milk whilst pumping. You don't have to clean the narrow tubing, so your milk stays Purely Yours.

Mould and bacteria easily grow in breast pump tubing when moisture becomes trapped inside it. Ameda has the world's only breastpump with a proven Airlock protection barrier to help protect breast milk from bacteria, mould and viruses while pumping.

Ease

Every mum is unique. You know your own body. Ameda breastpumps feature fully independent CustomControl for suction and speed. Set your own speed and suction level from 32 combinations. The dual adjustability lets you select the best levels for your milk flow and comfort, helping you express effectively and comfortably every time.

Comfort

The Ameda CustomFit Flange System makes it easy to find a good flange fit by offering seven flange sizes that adapt to all Ameda Breast Pumps and Kits. Different flange sizes allow for a more customised fit, making milk expression comfortable and efficient. Every Ameda breastpump includes the most commonly needed flange size (25 mm), which easily adapts with the other 6 additional sizes (available separately).

Ameda. Mum Inspired. Hospital Trusted

Try us on. You will like our adjustability, comfort and performance. You will also love knowing your milk is as pure and clean as Mother Nature made it.

Great Pump 9 Sep 2010
I borrowed this pump from my community midwives after having a blocked duct following the birth of my daughter. I am a student midwife so quite clued up on breastfeeding, and also quite difficult to impress.

This pump is operated by turning a dial to switch it on- this starts gentle fluttery suction to stimulate let-down, you then turn the suction up with that same dial, and once a flow is established, using the second dial you then turn the speed down so the pump is mimicking the baby's long, slow sucks during a feed.

Pros:
Easy to assemble and dismantle, very simple to sterilise
Quickly expresses good volumes of milk
Very quiet.
You can potentially pump both sides at once although personally I would have found this difficult.
Parts are sturdy and not easy broken.
Easy to clean the actual pumping unit.
Bottles stand in pump device when not in use, making it quite neat if it's sitting on your table or whatever.

Cons:
Hard plastic funnel is not as comfy on breast as it may be if it had one of the cushioned inserts like other electric pumps available on the high street.
I didn't take it anywhere, but it doesn't seem as easy to transport as, for example, the Philips Avent pump which comes with caps to keep the pumping equipment sterilised.
Hard to get hold of other Ameda products in the UK, although I believe it is compatible with some Medela products. I, however just poured my milk into other products to use it, and in fact most of the time I froze the milk I expressed.

Of note:
I have noticed from the reviews that some people describe having used this pump 8-10 times per day for 2-3 months and the motor packed up- it's worth mentioning that the product is designed to be used once or twice per day, not as a substitute for breastfeeding- it's not suitable for long term exclusive expressing. Also, the volume of milk you'll be able to express is dependent on how your breasts respond to a pump, it's individual and no pump can empty a breast the way a baby can.

So overall thumbs up for this pump, it's definitely an effective pump and worth the money. I don't know about the longevity of it, because I only used the one I borrowed for a few weeks, but from what I have heard it's suitable for expressing sevveral times a day for long stretches, for example if your baby is in special care nursery, or also suitable for the occasional expresser, such as myself.

Brilliant Item 18 Mar 2009
By JM
Brilliant!! Not sure whether it's my physiology or this breast pump, but I have been able to express quickly and easily ever since I gave birth. Easy to clean and sterilise, simple to use, worth every penny. If I have full breasts, I can express 100ml from each concurrently in about 5-7 minutes. I have used a manual single breast pump when I went on holiday and really regretted not taking this with me, the manual pump made my hand ache after a couple of minutes, couldn't empty my breasts as fully as the electric pump and then when you've finished one, you still have to do the other which has been leaking all the time you did the first - great!

Fully recommend this product, you realise when time is precious, it's worth spending a few extra quid to make life simple....

Almost perfect... 23 May 2009
By Mamon
This is a great little electric pump. I've been using it for almost 4 months. It's easy to use and much much much more effective than the hand pumps I used with my first baby - makes expressing much less of a chore. It was recommended by the hospital where I had my baby and I can see why. You can get extra parts for it as well (like extra bottles, etc) which is useful. My only gripe is that you can't sterilise it in the microwave and, as I only have a microwave steriliser, it is very irritating to have to boil everything in a saucepan a couple of times a day. Apart from that, it's a little gem.
