Product Description

Product Description

This modern 4 tier cascade will look great in any garden whether in a town or out in the country. The attractive, flexible design ensures that it will make a stunning feature not only in your garden, but also on any patio or balcony.

The water is pumped up to the top of the feature where it bubbles out of a fountain head and cascades all the way down until it reaches the bottom and the cycle starts again. The hypnotic sight of the water flowing from tier to tier, along with the gentle sound as it trickles down, will soothe and relax you after a stressful day.

Use As A Planter

The cascade doubles up as a handy planter and is suitable for growing herbs, plants and flowers which will add to its charm and beauty. Each tier (excluding the top, smallest tier) has a separate pocket ideal for you to create your very own totally unique tiered garden feature. This combination of planter and water feature is especially useful for smaller gardens or balconies where space is limited.

Solar-Powered

This water feature runs off eco-friendly solar energy collected by the solar panel included with the feature. The benefits of solar power are enormous – so long as the panel is accessible to sunlight, the cascade can be placed anywhere in your garden without the need for a cable running back to your house to connect to the mains. Without the need for mains electricity the water feature costs nothing to run and everything you need is supplied, so to get it running all you have to do is assemble the cascade, place the solar panel in sunlight and add water.

Lightweight

The water feature is made from poly-resin, a sturdy yet lightweight material which allows you to move it easily around your garden as you wish to suit your design, while presenting an attractive stone/granite effect look.

Not enough sun! 24 Aug 2010

I have mixed feelings about this. The item is really attractive, and a lovely idea, and comes so near to being successful.
It arrived very quickly, and was packed so firmly with polystyrene blocks, that I had to cut open the box to get the parts out.
Then the problems came. The first was that the cable had to be threaded down a channel in the bottom tier. Unfortunately the connector attached to the cable was wider that the channel. After puzzling over this for some time (I could not find a way to remove the connector as the cable was fixed at both ends), I gave up, and ignored the connector, which did not seem essential.
I optimistically set it up and filled it with water - nothing happened.
With some experimenting, I found that when the sun was shining brightly, the water was raised to the level of the third tier, but could not make it to the top of the fourth tier.
At the moment, I have removed one of the tiers, and when the sun is shining, the fountain works. I am hoping my more technically minded son may be able to suggest a solution.
I do hope so, as the design is so attractive, and would make a real feature in my garden.
The only other solution may be to move to a sunnier country.

A few months on. For no apparent reason, the pump started working more effectively, and I have been able to use all four tiers. When the sun shines, it works very well.
Unfortunately, this has been offset by other snags! If the sun shines, the fountain works, but the water evaporates, so that the pump is soon not under water. I shall only leave this connected when I am around, and can refill it regularly, and disconnect it if I go away.
The sections designed for herbs or flowers have no drainage - not sure what the answer to this is. I am going to clean this and put it away for the winter, and think about these problems again next spring.

Even though the product is not quite worth 5 stars, I still like it. It makes a lovely focal point in the garden and fits perfectly over a square manhole cover on the grass. The reason it didn't receive 5 stars is that it only really works in full sunshine. As soon as the slightest cloud comes over, it stops. Secondly, the planter sections fill up with water and the plants become waterlogged. However, you don't have to put plants in if you don't want to. Lastly, some of the fountain-head attachments are pointless (like the "spray" one which makes the water droplets land outside of the water feature and consequently the water dries up). However the birds absolutely love it as a drinking fountain/ bird bath and it's fab watching them have fun in it!
