Long before music marketers coined the term ambient to describe ethereal electronic music that's too slow to dance to, Moby had already written several songs that fit nicely into this genre. They are included, along with newer material, on this album. Moby's more conventional song structures will appeal to those who find Robert Fripp and Brian Eno's experimentation unpalatable. "Myopia" is a good representation of Moby's ability to write accessible ambient music that never strays too far into the abstract. --Beth Bessmer

It's Moby...it's ambient!
What makes this stand out from the crowd is the way Moby has transformed the ambient dance genre into a hybrid of minimalism and experimentalism.
Don't expect an earlier version of 'Play' - this has more in common with the limited edition 'B-Sides' CD
It's not hot, but it's seriously COOL!

An impressive album, but if you are looking for the next 'Play', then this is not what you are looking for. It is more of an album to chill to, but it does get annoyingly repetitive in places. Tracks 1, 5, 7, and 9 are bliss, but the rest could be left out. A great chilled out album.

Since this is one MOBY's first CD's, one cannot be too tough on him. However, the term ambient (penned by Brian Eno in the Seventies) used to mean multi-layered, ethereal space/mood music. Moby keeps the layers and the moods, but the constant percussion (it's good) keep it from being anything but relaxing. This represents a good foreshadowing of what moby was to produce.

lovely melodic interesting funky trance ! Perfect to work by. Uplifting and yet calming, and as always with Moby inspiring. I prefer this to the latest Moby album - this is the old electronic Moby.

don't buy this track if you're expecting this album to be anything like "Play" - it's not. This is very laid back, background music. It's nice, but it's not quite what I was expecting. Each track starts, and then continues in exactly the same way - there is very little progression in the melodys and not much in the way of structure. This isn't a bad thing, but it takes a while to get used to if you wouldn't generally listen to this kind of music.
This album is the best I have in my collection to just sit back and relax to and has sent me to sleep many a time! But basically if like me, you're after another "Play", this isn't the album you want!
