Beeing in a bit of a Disney mood I picked up a copy for my kindle. And glad I did, not beeing a 100% Disney nut, it had plenty of insightful bits of information, that I didn't know. Over all it's a well written book, or as another review says a collection of blog entries. Which in lies the only negative abot the book, there are points in it that it seems to jump, people are talked about with little or no introduction. I often found my self as well wanting more from some parts, a little more detail or a carry over from a 'story'. I also felt that the 2nd part of the book lacked the detail of the 1st part, and at times seemed some what rushed. It was almost like Amber's heart was not in the wrighting.
Am glad that that I read it, but would of been disappointed if I had gone with the paper back copy, as some chapters were around 2 pages. Over all a great read, that left me wanting more. (And kept me up till 1am reading it one night)

If you are wanting to gain an insight into the Disney College Programs (the American college program, not the ICP/AEP) and the now-defunct CareerStart program, this book may be a good place to start. For the most part, it is clear that the text has more or less been transferred straight from an online blog - they chapter titles aren't particularly imaginative, and most are only four or so sides long. It also takes a sudden change of format half way through, and goes from a recount in part one, to present tense in part two, which is a shame - I think the book would have flowed better if it had been kept the same throughout, with a bit more detail in the chapters.
That said, it's a great read - you can really identify with Amber (even if you haven't participated in a Disney program!) and the writing enables you to feel her happy moments and her sad moments along with her.

this book largely seems like a blog put in to a readable format... and I kinda love it for that. you see the ups and downs that happens in everyday life in an honest form, on some occasions I felt like I was snooping in some ones diary but that only adds to the honest feeling that you get reading this book.
It is not a tell all, nor is it a self help book to help you earn you ears but it can show what working at the park in the collage program is actually like and maybe even give you a heads up if you are heading out there.
not a must read for any disney fan but a must read for someone wanting to work for disney with an honest but factual opinion.

Not what I was expecting. I was hoping to read about Disney and training and secrets and tricks of the trade......instead this book dwelled on the mundane daily routines. Lots of words but no real story to tell. I don't know Disney As in depth as the writer and got so confused at times and found her talking about name after name of colleagues but again no real substance to the story. Honestly what I learnt could have been told in one chapter.......sorry Amber but this would not inspire me to follow your dream at all......maybe that was the point, maybe it was to deter future CP students.

If like me you love Disney I think you will be fascinated with this behind the scene glimpse into mickeys world. Amber goes to work at Disneyworld in Florida on 2 separate occasions this book is a bit like a diary of what she does when she us there but it also has a story running through it. There were not too many Disney secrets revealed that I didn't already know because as I said I love disney but all in all a good read . Only 4 stars because there were no big surprises and was what I was expecting

As other reviewers have said, the first half of the book is far more interesting and entertaining than the second. Some interesting behind the scenes details about the life of a CM - which really does depend on the role you are given - and the demands of working for and meeting the exacting standards of Disney. Drags a bit in the second half and nothing new once you're past the half-way point, but the intro' to the book partly prepares you for this.

This was a well written account (much like a blog really) of life at Disneyworld. At times I would have prefered there to be more 'trade secrets' and as the book progresses, it becomes clear that all is not perfect working 'for the mouse' - so it would be good to know more about why this was the case.

Really good read. Could not put it down and can't wait for the new series.

I was considering applying to work for disney and this book is so helpful being able to read someone else's experience.
Even if you just love Disney World I think this is a good read.
Loved it.

As a big Disney World fan, I was fascinated by Amber's honest and open insight into her time working at the resort. Well-written up to a point, then it seems like maybe it became more of a chore - or maybe the job itself did, I'm not sure. A good read for any Disney fans though.
