I have had to return this keyboard for a refund. When I first opened it and started to use it I was delighted with the smooth action of the keys and quickly got used to the keyboard layout which is different from the one I have been using. However, it quickly became apparent that it had serious faults. The keyboard needs to be switched off when not being used to save the batteries. This is not too difficult to remember to do, despite the off switch being located on the underside of the keypad so not readily accessible. However, to my horror, when switched back on the keyboard needs to be paired to the device again. All the keyboards I've had previously would automatically pick up the device after being switched off and on. When working I need to switch frequently from one task to another and to find I need to keep pairing my device via bluetooth was wasting time and breaking my concentration.

Because this keyboard does not have a rechargeable power unit there is a distinct possibility of being away from home and caught without spare batteries.

Amazon have made a big mistake with this keyboard. At a penny less than £40.00 it is well over-priced for the very basic item you get. It really has been cut down to the bare minimum and yet priced as though it is well-equipped under the bonnet. I would estimate a fair price to be in the £15 to £18 bracket - less than half of what they are charging.

I had to go through 3 wallet keyboards until I found this. It is small enough but buttons as big as my laptop. There is no flex and pairs with the Kindle easily every time, In my poinion you should not waste money on them silly case ones and pay the extra for this.

Being an Amazon make it was always going to work, just wish I had found it before going through hell with iffy dealers.

I intended to use this keyboard with my smartphone and Kindle Fire HD. The keys have a beautiful feel to them, but I am not a touch typist and sometimes struggle to see the lettering in poor light because of lack of contrast. My first keyboard stopped working after about a week. Amazon replaced it within two days of my reporting the fault. The second keyboard started giving trouble almost immediately. I have had it for only 5 days. There does not seem to be any knowledgeable technical support for this device and the only solution is yet another replacement. Before accepting that I decided to see if I could work out what was happening. It is clear that when the keyboard is switched off, as recommended in the Instruction Manual, to extend battery life, the connections to the phone and Kindle are lost. The only way I can reconnect is by unpairing and re-pairing each device. This is not the way bluetooth is supposed to work - and re-pairing does not always work first time. Is it a hardware or software problem? The Kindle sometimes reports the keyboard as 'incompatible with this Kindle' until it is unpaired and re-connected, which sounds like software to me. If it is, replacing the hardware isn't going to help. Whatever, the keyboard is obviously not fit for purpose and it is not a cheap device as keyboards go. I am waiting for advice from Amazon as to the next step. I am reluctant to give up on what is a very good device - when it is working. It is a wee bit encouraging that neither of the other two reviewers appear to have had my bad experience.
I do not want to rate this device as two samples have not worked for me, but I am not allowed to post this review unless I do. Black mark Amazon.

Unlike many of the in-case keyboards supplied with some 10-inch Android tablet cases, this is actually greater in its length than the tablets and the keys are mostly of a reasonable size and comparable to those of many laptops. It also features a UK layout rather than the more usual US. The navigation keys are smaller, around half-size, but should still be usable.

The casing is completely of hard black plastic and the overall impression is that it is quite sturdy and unlikely to be subject to flexing in use. The sole critiscism is that the key markings are quite thin and a mid-grey colour which reduces the contrast and visibility against the all black keys. For touch typists and when used in good lighting, that should be a minor issue. The power switch and pairing button are located underneath as is the battery compartment for 2 AAA cells which should last for months if switched off when not used. Pairing was immediate and easily achieved.

The typing experience is pleasant, rather than superb, as the keys are said to use a scissor action which is superior to the normal touch switches used on cheaper keyboards. A similar system is used on the very best Logitech keyboards.

It is worthwhile comparing this Android board with Microsoft's similar-sized Windows-specific model which features a solid metal case and which I also own.

If, like me, you are a touch-typist, this is definitely for you. The keyboard has a lovely typing action and is big enough to type normally but small and light enough to transport easily with your Kindle. It transforms how I use my Kindle to such extent that it could almost be a mini laptop... wonderful! I now have the best of both worlds, tablet and laptop.
