I love the fast diet but lately I have struggled with ideas for food to eat on my "fast days" that are 500 calories or less. When I got this book I immediately skimmed through and was impressed by the pictures of the food I saw. I also tried out the "egg in a blanket", it was really quick and tasty. I am looking forward to trying out many more of the recipes which I have already highlighted. The tips on how to manage a Fast diet, included in this book, are also very useful.

Like most women, I've tried a number of diets over the years but all have ultimately failed. As the author quite rightly points out in this book, as soon as you deny yourself certain foods they automatically become more desirable. I think that is the fundamental reason why this diet is so successful; you eat normally for five days of the week and 'fast' for just two.

'Fasting' however, is not as scary as it sounds! It involves consuming 500 calories per day, and this book provides you with a wealth of delicious recipes that all look and taste far better than you would imagine for such low calorie offerings.

The book itself is very well written and lavishly illustrated. I would certainly recommend it to anyone who is tired of the more traditional diets, whereby deprivation is the order of the day.

I bought another 5:2 diet recipe book and the recipes are good, but I quickly became frustrated with the serving sizes. I spent too much time trying to figure out the servings for 1. This book is EXACTLY what I needed. The recipes all serve 1 and include the calories for every ingredient, which is extremely helpful! Plus every recipe that I've tried so far has been amazing! (Try the Kiwi Coconut Shrimp or the Cheesy Grits and Greens.)

There's lots of recipes to choose from and you can't beat the price either. This one's definitely a keeper!

I began this diet in the first week of October and stuck religiously to 500 calories on my 2 "fasting" days. Less than a month later, I have lost half a stone! The recipes are easy to follow and generally quick to prepare. I won't pretend I'm not peckish on my fasting days; but I just tell myself it's for one day and I can eat normally tomorrow. Keeping busy helps too - although (as the author recommends) I would avoid exercising on fast days. The recipes are really tasty - "egg in a blanket" is one of my favourites. One important factor in the success or otherwise of the diet is what you choose to eat on your 5 non-fasting days. If you pig out on Mars bars, you will obviously be undoing all your hard work! I have found that by following the diet I have become more aware of what I eat in terms of portion size and nutritional value. I'm also more aware of eating when I'm not actually hungry. I chose this diet because at 5'6" tall and 13 stone, I had slowly piled on the weight to become obese. I love my food and I knew I'd never be able to stick to a diet every day for months on end. But the beauty of this diet is that you only have to rein yourself in on 2 days of the week and you can obviously choose which days these are to be in advance. Fasting days don't have to be the same days every week; the only stipulation is that you must have at least 1 non-fasting day in between. I find this diet fits very well into my very busy daily life too. Another reason I chose this diet is because it makes sense physiologically. You avoid lowering the body's metabolism by being on a constant low-calorie intake - so there's less possibility of gaining all the weight back as soon as you come off the diet.Read more ›

My wife is dieting AGAIN and as always she struggles with ideas on what to cook. Since I do 99% of the cooking in the house I thought I would download ‘5:2 Fast Diet Recipe Book’ by Diana Clayton and give it a bash.

I must say a brilliant cook book with mouth-watering dishes that are so quick and so simple to make for my wife and myself to help us with our dieting. The recipes I've made so far have been delicious (especially the Tomato Stuffing Surprise for breakfast!) and easy to follow and accompanied with colored pictures. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wishing to lose weight as all the rules and guidelines of 5:2 fasting and dieting are explained fully at the beginning of the book and the recipes are nicely categorized by calories.

Overall a brilliant cook book with good clear instructions and plenty of meal suggestion and ideas!

This diet works so well, but the hardest part is sticking to 300 calorie meals!

If you're doing the 5:2, I highly recommend using this cookbook - the recipes are delicious and easy, and actually makes this diet doable! Very pleased I found it, thank you!

Sensible and sustainable weight loss books are hard to come by- but this great book by Diana Clayton is certainly one!

The theory is rock-solid and delivered in a way that makes dieting, or just eating sensibly, a positive life choice and not a chore. The 'be kind to yourself' approach is a welcome change.

The recipes are amazing- working well as a reference for some easy meals for days when time is short or as an invaluable aid to cutting the calories. All are listed with cooking times and calorie information- saving you the trouble of working it out.

Showcasing variety of low calorie for meals for breakfast, dinner and evening meals- it enables you to try out lots of different types of cuisine. Dieting will never be boring again!
