Product Description

Product Description

Who built Stonehenge? How and when was it built? And why? This book, aimed at the inquisitive child (and adult) looks at these questions and with the aid of innovative paper technology, attempts to answer them. Through the use of pop-ups the book shows how the massive stone blocks were transported and erected by our Neolithic ancestors. It also tries to explain what the site was used for and why our distant ancestors put so much effort into building it. Written by TV historian and Stonehenge expert Julian Richards, this unique book is an excellent starting point for anyone interested in this mysterious and magnificent monument.

4.0 out of 5 stars Historical pop-up, 30 Jan 2006
By Sharon Wells - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Amazing Pop-up Stonehenge (Hardcover)
Gives good perspective of what Stonehenge is and relationship of objects to each other. Have to admit, I learned something from this book.

3.0 out of 5 stars It's just for kids, 12 Oct 2011
By greygator - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Amazing Pop-up Stonehenge (Hardcover)
This is a children's book. Oversize and very thin, with delightful pictures, published in the UK and affiliated with English Heritage.(akin to US Parks and Tourism) Addresses the history with text and two very simple pop ups. Simple and interesting- who knows this could be the start of a young archaeologist's library.

1.0 out of 5 stars A huge disappointment, 15 Feb 2007
By C. McLaughlin - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: The Amazing Pop-up Stonehenge (Hardcover)
The pop-ups in this book are very simple, and a big disappointment to someone who's a fan of the sophisticated art of Robert Sabuda and Matthew Reinhart. The text is basic, but makes it seem like all the facts about Stonehenge are known, which is far from accurate.
