Review

′Larger–than–life fishing stories that will entertain and captivate.’  (Bookseller Buyer′s Guide, August 2011).

Product Description

From battling monsters from the deep, to the magic and mystery of fly fishing—larger–than–life fish stories that are all true

Lifelong fisherman Paul Knight knows the thrill of the chase, the one–on–one battle of endurance between man and beast that is sport fishing. Like Hemingway, and legions of others who′ve tested themselves against nature, author Paul Knight has traveled to remote parts of the globe to reel in stories of epic adventures with rod and line. In Amazing Fishing Stories, he takes readers on a breathtaking expedition from frozen Russian rivers to the wild jungles of India, detailing the heart–pounding capture of sailfish, tuna, and shark and thrilling struggles with monsters from the deep.

There are wonderful stories of fly fishing, as Knight describes in captivating detail the pursuit of salmon, trout, and more exotic sport from the Scottish Highlands to the Indian jungle. International in scope, and covering all types of fishing from open ocean to mountain stream, this eclectic collection of well told fishing stories has something for everyone.

  • The book is a compelling and entertaining read that covers a variety of fishing around the world
  • The author is a leading figure among UK anglers, as CEO of Salmon and Trout Association, and contributor to a wide range of angling magazines, including Gamefisher

An ideal gift for the armchair enthusiast and active fisherman, Amazing Fishing Stories is an exhilarating trek across the globe, with a skilled fisherman and masterful writer, in search of the perfect catch.

I can't imagine any fisherman not enjoying reading this book (or their children).

There are lots of incredible stories served up which cover dangerous fishing, failed fishing, the 'ones that got away' etc. The writing style is lovely and I can imagine plenty of people who would cherish reading this. It's truly entertaining throughout regardless of whether you're a fisherman or not. Paul Knight genuinely comes across as a really nice guy, whether it's when he's discussing overfishing or fishing off Brighton Pier.

It's a great gift for Christmas for fisherman, wanabee-fisherman or just somebody plain interested in a good yarn.

Bought for my uncle, a keen fly fisherman, he could not put it down! Given on Christmas day, and made a very welcome gift. Lots of different fishing stories to keep any type of fisherman happy, from those that got away....to the comradeship which makes the social aspect of fishing so addictive, enjoy

A yarn at bedtime 5 Oct 2011
By NBG
Format:Hardcover
Anyone familiar with Paul Knight's pieces in 'Trout and Salmon' will not be surprised at the directness of the style with which he presents these tales of angling daring-do from across the world. The very task of compiling these stories, let alone getting them down in publishable shape, would overcome most less committed writers but he has produced a 'must have' bedside book for any angler (no matter what their code) - and indeed for many others who simply enjoy a good yarn about the great outdoors.

Amazing Fishing Stories
All in all a likeable enough book, but for me, some of the "tales" were exactly that, and seem rather far fetched and not believable. Read more
