The Scary Bone Series : fun from the very first page. Ron Dawson has a naturally funny voice and his words twist and dance in a hugely entertaining and captivating way. My daughter and I both had a good giggle many times at his fantastic turn of phrase. His characters are original and charming and there s just the right amount of villainy and drama to excite and to thrill. We bought this book for our (just) 7 year old grandson who is, to say the least, a reluctant reader and a fidgety listener. Couldn't believe it when we finished the book in 2 sessions - one at bedtime and the next the following morning at 6 am! Wonderful, surprise ending. Will be ordering the next in the series.

I have just finished reading Scary Bones with my 9& 6 year old boys and have to say it is the only book that has kept them so interested from start to finish! The vocabulary is perfect for them, and the storyline ticks along at a perfect pace. Thank you Mr Dawson! So if your boys aren't such keen readers, then this is THE book to read with them. The only sad thing is that if they ARE keen readers they'll whip right through it! Luckily there are more Scary Bones stories though! And the envelope to open at the end is just the best idea....

I have just read this book to my two children aged 7 and 9. We all hooted with laughter and ended up reading it all in one go! Really well written and an excellent story. Fab illustrations that really capture Scary's character. I would recommend this to all ages, certainly suitable to read alone (age 8ish upwards)but really should be read aloud. We loved the suprise at the end...
