Amanda Lear is the daughter of an Englishman and a Russian exile. She studied art in Paris and in the 60s moved to London. During this period she got to know the most prominent designers, musicians and artists belonging to the artistic circles she frequented. Her preferences were predominantly for the Surrealist movement and for bodily expression, since she has also studied the art of ... Read more in Amazon's Amanda Lear Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Diva on the cheap 4 Nov 1999
Format:Audio CD
Amanda Lear - fashion model, disco diva, Salvador Dali's best mate, alleged transsexual, TV hostess - is a household name in Europe, but virtually unknown in the UK. Well now's your chance to do something about that sorry state of affairs. Come on! Six quid's not a lot to splash out, and for your money you'll discover one of the most eccentric, glamorous musical talents of our times. Okay, she can't really sing, but that's not the point: this is just track after track of wonderful, tongue-in-cheek disco pop. Basically this compilation offers a trot through Amanda's back catalogue, and it's worth it for classics like Follow Me, Peep and her bizarre rendition of Lili Marleen. I could go on for pages and pages, but instead I'll just say: GIRLS - BUY THIS RECORD!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like Amanda it is worth buying 28 Feb 2004
Format:Audio CD
If you know Amanda's style and you like it then this compilation would sit nicely with your collection. The remix of 'Follow Me' does not live up to the original, but then none ever will! There is a mix of songs that are from a few of the other albums and they do sound good together. If you are new to Amanda you should try 'Sweet Revenge' or 'Amanda '98, Follow Me Back In My Arms'. Sweet Revenge is her personal favourite and it stands out from the rest, however the 98 album has some good remixes and is more modern.

5.0 out of 5 stars get to kwow her 5 Nov 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
This is a nice cd to get to know miss Lear. A variety off her tacky (in a nice way) songs during the years you will find on this cd. If you are in to campy-music, this cd is a must have.

4.0 out of 5 stars The darling of tacky disco 9 April 2010
By Neil B
Format:Audio CD
Amanda Lear was the "darling" of disco during the disco boom of the 1970's. Her own unique vocal style was immediately a hit and she scored numerous International dance hits such as "Follow me". This is a nice, budget price selection of her most well known tracks. Amanda later went on to more success during the electro/HI-NRG scene during the 1980's. A popular and well known celebrity in Europe.. Success in the UK and USA has been minimal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amanda Lear - self-titled CD 3 April 2000
By Michael Michaud - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
This CD is a good '90's compilation for someone who wants a "taste" of Amanda in the '90's. Included are tracks from her 1990 LP / CD "Tant Ou'il Y Aurades Hommes", her 1993 CD "Cadavrexquis" and her 1995 CD "Alter Ego". (Her 1993 re-make of "Follow Me" is the best track on this CD!)
I am a mega Amanda Lear fan and collect videos / CD's world-wide on her and am open to trades with any fans! E-mail me directly at m_michaud@juno.com if you wish to correspond!
