Product Description

Self Amalgamating tape is the plumbers secret weapon and electricians friend.
This is the magic toolbox tape that can not only waterproof joints, but can also provide temporary repairs to leaking pipes, hoses, joints etc.
The tape itself has no adhesive coating, it works simply by amalgamating to itself.
Simply remove the protective liner whilst stretching it around the area you want to seal/waterproof and as it trys to constrict back to its original size it amalgamtes to create a waterproof seal.
You dont need any technical experience to work this tape, its ideal for anybody and anybodys toolbox.
Keep pne handy in the shed, the kitchen drawer and even the car, you will be surprised and wonder how you managed without it.

Ordered this item after our old satellite man retired and I needed to revamp our system on my own. The tape is every bit as effective as I'd hoped. Postage doubled the price, but since I can't find this tape here in France, and many UK outlets won't export, I was glad that Amazon provided one that does. Shall use them again.

I have used this product for almost twenty five years and it is my first choice when I have the option between heatshrink and self amalgamating tape. As a refrigeration service engineer I often have to make electrical connections where the joint is subject to moisture and temperatures as low as -30 degrees C. Normal insulation tape fails over time, the adhesive fails, the tape becomes brittle and it often unwraps itself resulting in shortages to earth often showing itself as an intermittent hard to locate fault. This tape has never failed due to to any of the aforementioned, in fact the repair remains flexible and the adhesive qualities grow better over time as it fuses to itself.
It can take a little practice to use effectively as you need to unwrap the protective covering then stretch it slightly as you wrap the joint. Take care not to get the tape wet or oily as it will not stick to itself and it is best to just start again. Once the "technique" of using it is mastered then like me, it will be the first tape you reach for and you will have the satisfaction of knowing you have made a safe permanent repair.
I don't know why this tape remains a "secret" of the trade and so few places stock it. It is a great product well worth the slightly greater effort for the peace of mind it gives. You can use it and know it and you have done a professional job.
I cannot recommend this product highly enough.
