Product Description

Product Description

Though Dr. Mary T. Newport has provided professional care to babies since 1983, she's led a double life since 2000 when she became a carer at home. That's when her beloved husband, Steve, first showed signs of Alzheimer's disease. After his deterioration accelerated in 2004, Dr. Newport began avidly researching to keep him functional as long as possible. Since she understands medical proceedings, she was thrilled to find, totally by chance in 2008, new research showing that medium-chain fatty acids, which act like an alternative fuel in the insulin-deficient Alzheimer's brain, can sometimes reverse or at least stabilise the disease. When she gave Steve about two tablespoons of coconut oil (a source of these fats) at breakfast before a memory test that he had previously failed, Steve miraculously passed the test. Since then, Steve continues to maintain improvement while taking daily doses of coconut oil and MCT (medium-chain triglyceride) oil with meals. Dr. Newport's story of Steve's reprieve from Alzheimer's provides an exciting breakthrough for carers eager to learn about readily available fatty acids in foods that may reverse the ravages of this dreaded disease. Changes in loved ones may take many forms, including improved memory, return of personality, resumption of activities and social interaction and relief from certain physical symptoms. Because ketone esters, a synthesised form of these powerful fatty acids, work faster and more comprehensively than fatty acids in foods, Dr. Newport has become an ardent advocate for ketone ester research, with goverment approval her final goal.

Firstly thank you to Mary Newport for writing this book and painstakingly trying to research and make as many people aware of the positive effects of coconut oil on people with Alzheimers. Having a parent who is only 60 but has Alzheimers has been a devasting time however we are now week 1 into trying coconut oil and there does seem to be some moderate improvement, my mum appears more talkative and was even singing along this evening to a program on tv, she also seems very bright and jolly. Obviously the book points out that effects of the oil can take in some cases days in other cases months, I am encouraged so far by the effects on my mum to date. This book is a must read it provides hope and an alternative option to finding a possible cure to Alzheimers disease. Thank you again Mary!

Friends in America sent me a video of this woman who has dragged her husband back from being unable to talk sensibly and inability to walk. She read research which lead her to believe that brain cell death was a sort of Diabetes of the brain. Nutrients from sugar were unable to feed brain cells so they were dying. According to this book, the human liver can make something called ketones from coconut oil and this product can get through to offer nutrition to brain cells. In the book she refers to similar effects on cancers and Parkinson's Disease. One of my friends was developing noticeable and worrying hand tremors and now, thanks to consuming coconut oil on his morning toast, the tremors have gone!
