Book Description

I was thrilled when I was offered a graduate teaching position at the prestigious Tennerson Girls Academy. At twenty-three, this would be my first ‘real’ teaching assignment. Working at the elite boarding school, home to the daughters of some of the wealthiest people in the world, was a great opportunity that I would’ve been stupid to pass up.

One week into my new job, and I suddenly had no idea why I chose high school…I was a seventeen year old boy once, I knew how teenage girls behaved.

You can’t even imagine the hell of trying to teach thirty, hormonal driven seventeen year olds who have been cooped up, away from any male contact.

I could handle the whispers every time I entered the room. I could even handle the obvious attempts at gaining my attention. What I couldn’t handle was her…

Rich bitches and way too many rules. Was it any wonder that I hated school?

Add to that the lack of male contact, and I was going insane. Like literally. I wasn’t used to this. A year ago I was normal. I had a boyfriend, friends and a loving family. There is nothing normal about me anymore, and nobody here lets me forget that.

My name is Wrenn, and I’m only here because my aunt took me in after what happened, but my aunt also happens to be the headmistress of this academy…Can you see my problem?

I’m hated for my lack of money, and I’m hated for who my Aunt is.

Then he arrived. Dalton Reed. My new history teacher.

Slowly, he helped me see that even in the worst situations, there is always hope.

4.0 out of 5 stars Certainly hot scenarios with a sweet story. 18 Jan. 2014
By An avid reader. TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Kindle Edition
I received this book in return for an honest review.

I'm reviewing this differently to normal so you can see where I'm coming from.

Wrenn - 3 stars
Dalton - 4 stars
supporting characters - as in Paige - 2 stars.
Sexiness and heat - 4 stars
Storyline - 4 stars
Deliverance of storyline - 3 stars

Overall I rate this 3.5 stars.

So as you can see I didn't enjoy Wrenn as much as I did Dalton and to be 100% truthful I have no idea why? I connected with them both but definitely more so with Dalton. I think if I really try to put my finger on it Dalton's character didn't waiver it was solid whereas Wrenn's did sometimes.

Phew I can't deny this book is hot, their scenes were definitely on the high heat scale. Again this is where I may have found Wrenn's character a little mixed, she instigates a whole lot and then it comes across that she's very naive about a lot of it.

The story really revolves his 8 weeks at Tennerson Girls Academy and the underlying illness that he may or may not have, couple that with what Wrenn has already gone through with her family, then add Paige into the mix and it all makes for an interesting read.

Although this does make for an interesting read, I felt it lacked a little in the deliverance. For an example I think what Paige did was delivered very quick and concluded as though it was nothing. This could have been built into a much more angsty couple of scenes but it just didn't cumulate and build like it could have done.

All in all this is a pleasant read it's a sweet story with a whole pile of hotness thrown in.

4.0 out of 5 stars sweet and easy teacher/student forbidden romance 21 Jan. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a sweet, easy read.
Another student/teacher illicit romance but this didn't feel very illicit. Perhaps because the threat seems less when you're related to the Head of the school as this character is?
I struggled a little with the writing style in this - I kept having to stop to check who was speaking because the text rarely spelled it out. It's a small thing but it did unfortunately spoil the flow of the story for me.
Still, it was a nice read.

4.0 out of 5 stars sweet 2 Jan. 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I was given an ARC in return for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. If it wasn't for the sheer desire to sleep overwhelming me, this would have been read in one sitting!! I was glued.

The story isn't full of teenage angst, it isn't full of major drama, it IS a delightful and emotional read, with just the right amount of drama to make it realistic.

Dalton is 23 and has just graduated from college and has taken a short term position at an elite private boarding school for girls. He is young, attractive and the focus of attention from almost every girls in the school. Meanwhile, he is having to deal with making a decision that will change his life.

Wrenn is 18 and is living with her Aunt, who is also the Headmistress of the school. She is shunned by the popular girls and looked down upon because of her Aunt's position and the fact she doesn't come from money. She is dealing with a great deal of trauma and still suffers from vivid nightmares from it.

The attraction is subtle in the beginning then rapidly builds up to something that neither of them can deny. They know it is wrong, but they can't, nor do they want to walk away from the feelings that they are developing for each other.

Just as things are going well for them, a specific incident throws everything up in the air, unveiling a lot of secrets that have the potential to destroy their relationship.

Missy Johnson did a good job of writing a feel good romance novel, despite the bittersweet ending.

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read 26 Jan. 2015
Format:Kindle Edition
As a rule I honestly don't like teacher-student romances. The line between what is right and what is wrong just doesn't sit right with me in a lot of that genre of stories.

However this story was actually a good read for me.

I loved the relationship which builds between Wrenn and Dalton. It is not as clear cut as it first appears, there are a lot of underlying issues to deal with throughout the story.

The epilogue is hard to read due to the reasons behind it. As I said this is not a straight forward love story with the traditional HEA most readers will be expecting. But the ending is perfect in my eyes because the author stays true to the story she has written. She doesn't try to give the reader the ending they perhaps would prefer.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lackluster 4 Jun. 2015
By Demaris
Format:Kindle Edition
I've read two student/teacher novels this week, this one was not my favourite. It was very, very predictable (apart from the unpredictability/unrealistic element that a man this young would ever be placed in a position to teach 17 year old girls) and there was very little dramatic tension and it all felt a bit bland. I'm not sure why the author felt the need to set this story using the student/teacher dynamic as it would have worked exactly the same if they had been two HS student.

3.0 out of 5 stars A good read 22 Jun. 2014
By Teaney
Format:Kindle Edition
I was a bit concerned that the concept of the storyline would not be played out so well.

Wrenn goes to an all girls school - because her aunt is the head and because the year before her family (mum, dad and brother) were all killed in a car crash, that Wrenn survived.
Though she is in final year, at the school - she is actually a year older than her peers.
She has few friends, apart from the sassy - Kass.
Then one day, a new teacher arrives in the form of gorgeous 23yo Dalton Reid.
Well of course he would happen to be gorgeous and young and put in a room full of young women - talk about the chicken in the fox's den!!
I didn't think that I would like the storyline - teacher/student - seemed like an abuse of privilege, but the story is delivered well and there is the kinda obvious angst in the jealous/knocked back other student - who tries to stir things up for the couple of the hour. I agree with other reviewers that this element of the story could have been better played out.
Give it a go, if you have reservations about the content, like I did initially, because it is well written and a sweet story.
