A recently bought my wife a Panasonic Lumix TZ20 and bought this little case as a temporary case until we could go out and buy a better case. However, she absolutely loves it and it may well become THE case. At first I thought that it was going to be too small for the (larger than normal compacts) TZ20, but the case is made from a rubbery material (neoprene?) and we could stretch it over easily to allow the velcro fastening to be made. I suspect that, with time, the case will stretch to the size of the TZ20.
The screw that connects the case to the tripod socket of the camera has a folding handle that makes it very easy to tighten and untighten. As the spine has a long slot, the screw can be untightened to allow the case's metal spine bar to be slid sideways to give access to the battery/SD card compartment. It also allows the case to be used with cameras that have an offset (i.e. not central) tripod socket. A rather clever design for a very modest cost.
My wife loves how quickly the camera can be released from the case ready for a shot and also how it is impossible to misplace the case (unless you lose the camera as well). She is also pleased that the case is so thin and yet gives reasonably good shock protection. Although the TZ20 is a much larger camera than the Panasonic Lumix FX8 it has replaced, it takes up no more room in her handbag due to its much slimmer case. This makes her very happy, especially as it will even fit into her small evening bag!
My only reservations for not awarding it a full five stars are:-
(1) How will it perform after a long period of use? We are used to leather cases, and have no idea how the case will perform long term (although this is true of any product).
(2) Will the screw stay tight over a period of use? I would recommend that the camera or its strap always be held and would not like to rely on holding it by just the case.
(3) The camera is exposed at both ends when in the case, so the case does not give as much protection as full 'purse' type cases.
But, so far, we are very pleased with this moderately priced little case
