Book Description

1 Mar 2006
"Always Look After Number Two! A Guide to Better Health through Colonic Irrigation and Bowel Care" is a comprehensive guide to colon hydrotherapy and bowel management, of interest to professionals and general public alike.

This is a self-help book, which focuses on health, beauty and personal development by making sure that your body’s elimination system is doing its job right.

The book goes beyond colonic irrigation. It helps the reader to understand how the ‘number twos’ are formed and what ‘slight imperfections’ in your bowel movements might possibly mean. As far as we are aware, there is no other book describing ‘poos’ to the general public, alerting the reader to the warning signs of bowel mismanagement that could be the first symptoms of dangerous conditions, including bowel cancer.

Bowel cancer is the second biggest cancer killer in the Western world, and 'Number Two' should help more people take steps to it by re-connecting with their bodies and understanding the first signs of danger.

'Number Two' also focuses on the connection between the bowel and the brain. The bowel is now often described as the "second brain". It is only now coming to light that it is the bowel, rather than the brain, that is responsible for quite a few emotional decisions that we make on a daily basis. For example, the bowel manufactures 95% of serotonin, our mood regulator.

Although it is a very serious subject, the book is written in a light-hearted way, with lots of cartoons, tables and charts to make sure it can reach the widest possible audience.

From the Inside Flap

A WAKE-UP CALL FOR NUMBER ONE

This is probably the most complete book on colonic irrigation and bowel health ever to be published. This book speaks volumes to the health-conscious and the curious, to the practitioner, the health professional and the patient.

Within these pages, there is something to inspire anyone who has ever contemplated feeling healthier, happier and living a more energetic life. Now everybody can have a thorough understanding of the positive benefits colonic irrigation can bring to their health.
Lara Coleman, BSc ND

‘Number Two’ highlights an often neglected truth: we are not only what we eat and assimilate, but also what we eliminate. We forget only too often that the bowel, like any other organ, needs support and nourishment.

This book will change the way health professionals address many health dysfunctions, such as IBS, bloatedness or constipation, by helping them realize that the bowel is within the whole person, and that these symptoms of digestive ill-health can be the beginning of a healing journey for the whole person.

Shoela Detsios, BSc Canada, ND Australia

This book is a MUST READ for anyone who wants to improve their health. It contains answers to some of the most important but ‘taboo’ questions most people are just too afraid to ask!

Dr Sanjay Chaudhuri , MBBS BSc

About the Author

After receiving her MA in Education in 1981 from Maurice Thorez University where she specialised in advanced learning technologies, Galina went on to become an educational reviewer, journalist, interpreter and teacher. She continued writing practical learning guides, as well as teaching CPD courses for teachers and lecturing.

Between 1987 and 1989 Galina was responsible for writing, editing and presenting the educational feature of "Children’s Hour", an immensely popular programme on Russian Education TV that was on air three times a week. Galina’s feature received 40,000 letters from children and adult viewers in April 1989 alone, something that Galina is immensely proud of to this day.

After moving to the UK in 1989, Galina worked for the BBC World Service and later spent some time in the City’s financial and banking sector.

In mid-90s Galina realised she wanted to go back to education. As health promotion has always been her great interest and passion, Galina took a sabbatical to do an intensive diploma course in Sports Therapy and Health and Fitness Studies. After qualifying, Galina very quickly acquired a varied and challenging client base, consisting of performing artists, City financiers and her former journalist colleagues.

As her client base grew, she continued postgraduate studies to expand her range of treatments – Galina now practices and teaches not only exercise and bodywork therapies, but also Colon Hydrotherapy and Live Blood Microscopy.

Galina’s detox and beauty retreat, Wellbeing Now, sponsors a health and wellness page on the local radio, Star 106.6 FM, participates in the life of the local community, organizes health awareness campaigns and contributes to local and national publications, thus helping hundreds of people to learn more about themselves and their health.

5.0 out of 5 stars Always look after number two 18 Mar 2006

For anyone interested in Colon Hydrotherapy / Colonic Irrigation, this is a 'must read' book. I have a probably one of the best collection of books of this genre and have found this new book, by Galina Imrie, head and shoulders above the rest of this type. For the Lay person, it will be a valuable guide to understanding what Colon Hydrotherapy is about and how to choose a therapist. To the Professional, whilst it is not a text-book, it will be a useful addition of reference and may help them develop into better therapists. It is very readable and the cartoons add great humour. I recommend you buy it.

... ( you name it, the list can go on!) I have to board a lot of airplanes in the course of my business life (as a conference interpreter), run an agency from home, look after a very hectic household - and read a lot, professionally and for pleasure. This book has given me a lot of serious, but sassy answers on how to actively and consciously manage my internal health, feel and look better, have more energy during and after the trips abroad, improve the diet of my family. A really useful, funny, upbeat tool for a modern woman. We have heard a lot about dieting, bulimia, anorexia, addictions, invasive corrective therapies - here is a mini-manual about how a body should function, from top to bottom (sic!) and how to kick start the sluggish internal engine, which Mother Nature gave us all. Hope Galina writes a sequel soon.
