Book Description

The moving and inspiring story of a war widow's determination to honour the memory of her husband, a bomb disposal expert killed in Afghanistan.

Product Description

A LOVE LOST.

A LIFE CUT SHORT.

'From the moment I set eyes on him I adored him. The connection between us was so strong it went beyond everything else. His job, my job, his lifestyle, my lifestyle. All that fell away.'

And then one earth-shattering day Christina's worst nightmare came true when Oz was killed on his final day of duty before flying home to his family.

This is Christina and Oz's story: a story about love and loss, hope and despair and of living in constant fear. Christina's extraordinary bravery and composure is an inspiration to anyone who has ever lost someone they love.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mostly made up nonsense 9 April 2012
By Dave M
Format:Kindle Edition
I am personally connected to this story and I can honestly say that there are elements of it which just do not add up and are clearly an element of the authors imagination.

Christina claims that Gary's funeral was in Scotland, it was not, I was there and so was Oz and it was in Leamington Spa (unless I imagined the day but I am pretty sure I didn't).

This is not a true account of ATO's lives and if that is what you are looking for then I suggest reading something by a surviving member of the bomb disposal teams. Perhaps someone like Chris Hunter or similar.

Having spoken to members of Gary's family about this all it has created is heartache and for people that read it who didn't know Gary personally it paints a false picture of the man.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent read 11 Feb 2013
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a moving account of Olaf Schmid and the love he and his wife had for each other. She honours him in death by telling of their enduring love. The simplicity of the story adds to the pathos, the inevitability of the ending becomes almost unbearable.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but a bit bland
A selection at my book club. The writing style is easy, but I'd actually say that most of the story is rather unremarkable, but is written with obvious passion. Read more
