Product Description

Shane Briant's autobiography. Nominated by the London Theatre Critics or best newcomer of 1972, Shane was contracted by Hammer Films. Four films later he flew to Hollywood to play the name role of Dorian Gray for the ABC network. Since then he has played leads in 34 feature films in the U.K., the U.S.A., Europe, Australia, New Zealand, China and and has worked with ten Oscar winners. Olivia de Havilland, Paul Newman, Jack Palance, Jeremy Irons, John Hurt, James Mason, John Huston to name just a few. This autobiography includes all his stories as well as approximately 130 illustrations. Shane tells the WHOLE story. He is utterly frank. It's hilarious at times and very personal at others.

Shane started writing thrillers in 1995. The first six are all thrillers. His first two novels were published by Harper Collins. He then parted company with Harper to formed his own publishing company. Any aspiring novelist will learn a great deal from Shane's experiences on how to publish a novel. In 2009 his electrifying dark thriller was published across America by the Vanguard Press. The sequel, "The Dreamhealer" is available on Kindle, and also on Amazon.com as a hard copy

I have always had the greatest respect for Shane Briant. He is an excellent actor who approaches his craft, though not necessarily his life away from the cameras, with deadly earnest. He is truly one of a kind, and it was nice to discover more about him in this affable, often self-effacing memoir.
Shane freely admits that he is not a major-league star, though I rather fancy that if Hammer Films had been able to see through its plan to turn Shane and the late, great Ralph Bates into their 'new' Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee, things would have been much different.
He has enjoyed a remarkable career nonetheless, not only as an actor but latterly as a novelist as well. His style here is simple and accessible, as if he is not so much telling the story of his life as simply in conversation with the reader and sharing all manner of anecdotes along the way. The result is a relaxing experience that carries the reader along with deceptive ease.
My only gripe about the book (and the reason I have awarded it four stars instead of five) is the formatting of the Kindle edition, which could have been so much better. As it is, the various gaps between text, examples of wordsallrunningintoone and occasional misuse of italics, give the book a somewhat disjointed appearance and does little to compliment the otherwise admirable flow of Mr Briant's text.
This is but a minor criticism, given the pleasure I derived from this book. Buy it. Read it. Enjoy it.
