The aim of the collection is to offer a series of short monographs which, though brief, nevertheless deal with all aspects of the master's personality: works, constructed or otherwise, primary written sources, critiques and photographic interpretations. The underlying aim is to offer an in-depth, comprehensive overview targeted at anyone interested in learning about architecture including students, professionals or simply those who are interested in the subject, by providing not only basic information but also guidance in terms of gaining more insight into the subject. The volumes are dedicated to some of the best known modern and contemporary architects.

More About the Author

Giovanni Leoni was born in Modena (December 7th, 1958). He obtained BD (1984) and PhD in History of Architecture (1989) at History of Architecture Department (DSA) of IUAV, Venice, Italy. He has taught at the Polytechnic in Bari, Italy, from 1993 to 2005. Since 2002 he is Full Professor in History of Architecture. Since 2005 he teaches at the school of Architecture of the University of Bologna (Facoltà di Architettura "Aldo Rossi", Cesena) where he has holded the position of vice-Dean and President of the single cycle Degree in Architecture (Laurea Magistrale).
He has been member of the Bologna University Research Observatory, representing the disciplines of Architecture and Civil Engineering (2011-2012)
He is part of the teaching staff of Bologna University PhD in Architecture.
From october 2012 he is Dean of the Department of Architecture at University of Bologna.

He studies architecture and art theory in Nineteenth Century and particularly the figure of John Ruskin (J. Ruskin, Opere, a cura di G. Leoni, Laterza, Roma - Bari 1987; J. His last writing in this research field is: Il comandamento scritto nelle cose Sul problema del restauro in John Ruskin / The Commandment Written within Things John Ruskin and the Issue of Restoration, in J. He studied architecture in Sixteenth Century Ferrara and his main publications in this field are: Christ the Gardener and the chain of symbols: the gardens around the walls of sixteenth - century Ferrara, in J. From 2002 to 2009 he has been editor of the international magazine "d'Architettura" (Motta Architettura / Gruppo Sole 24 Ore) dedicated to modern and contemporary italian architecture. In this field he was curator of many exhibitions (I linguaggi alti della architettura italiana / I linguaggi altri della architettura italiana, Parma, Chiesa di S. Ludovico, 23-29 ottobre 2006, Festival dell'Architettura, con A. Trentin; Laboratorio Italia, Roma, Roma, Ex Casa di Correzione del San Michele, Sala Clementina, 6 maggio - 4 giugno 2006) and published articles and monographs: Arassociati. Tiscali, il campus dell'innovazione, Electa, Milano 2008; Isolarchitetti, Skira, Milano 2008; Enzo Zacchiroli, Motta Architettura, Milano 2008; Marco Ciarlo Associati, Libria, Melfi 2008).
