Rugby League is a frenetic sports sim where you can choose from 35 teams, with official licenses that include the National Rugby League (NRL), NRL Telstra Premiership, State of Origin, City vs Country, the Australian Kangaroos and the New Zealand Kiwis. There are 25 realistic stadiums and to add to the authentic atmosphere there is play by play commentary by Channel 9's Andrew Voss. Gameplay includes high tackles, ankle taps, multi-person tackles, injuries, sin bin, interchange, knock-ons, cut-out passes, sidesteps, offloads, fends, break tackles, scrums, slow-mo replays, grubber kicks, chips, punts, field goals, bombs and more. There are also accurate player abilities and skills modelled on detailed data supplied by official NRL statisticians, NRL Stats. There is comprehensive player, team and competition customisation with the ability to alter all elements of players including the face, skin colour, head shape, hair style and colour, height, weight and 12 separate skills attributes.

Contrary to what has been written before, this game is the first Rugby League game on the Playstation 2, X Box, PC and Gamecube. To my knowledge this is the first rugby league game to ever really make it to a console. The game of rugby league has deserved a game for some time, i think the sport will lend itself well to computer games, more-so than Rugby Union.
Not only are all Superleague and NRL teams available, there are also loads of modes of play and so on. I'm going to buy it no matter how good its reviews are because i am a big-time rugby league fan, and I'm excited!
One point of concern is the rumour that this game was delayed to correct programming errors which were "not up to Sony's Standard".
Anyway, I'm sure this will be an exciting release for all rugby league fans.

Originally destined for the Australian and New Zealand markets (released as NRL and Stacey Jones Rugby League) comes under the form of the Super League Rugby League for the European market.
The game has been in progress for many years now and we the help and input from fans and players of the greatest game.

I've had this game for over a week now and it just keep sgetting better. Compared to Madden its still a little under done (every game is though) but its still the strongest Rugby game ever. The graphics are slick, the sound is tight, and best of asll the gameplay is fast, smooth and spot on. Its so easy to play, but takes time to master. With heaps of options, including the whole NRL and Super League roster, this game is the sports game of the year. While EA's Rugby title was the worst game i've played this year, it took Sidhe and the world's strongest rugby competition (NRL) to create a gaming classic. Forget Jonny Wilkinson, when you can play with the superior League athletes of El Masri, Andrew Johns, Morley, Gordon Tallis and Lockyer. This is a must buy for any sporting games fan. I'm going back now to play some 'State of Origin'!!!
