More About the Author

Author of the bestselling popular culture parody, "Fifty Shades of Blue - the trilogy" Michele Brenton was born in Swansea, South Wales and shares her birth day and place with another Swansea poet, Dylan Thomas. She spent some time living on the Greek island of Kefalonia as did another poet, Lord Byron. She has lived longer than they managed and been happily married for twenty-one years so far during which time she (with some help from her long-suffering husband) produced a remarkably talented son who will far outstrip her creatively.

She writes poetry and is delighted, surprised and honored each time her work is included in a publication. It happened first in 2001 when the poem 'Enemies' got into the 'When the Teacher Isn't Looking' anthology published by Pan Macmillan and most recently in 2011 with the inclusion of two of her poems in 'Prompted - An International Collection of Poems' an anthology edited by Dr Pearl Ketover Prilik.
Her newest book is the ebook Fifty Shades of Blue - the trilogy, a rhyming parody of the runaway bestselling trilogy by E.L. James. It was released in the first week of July and has been in the bestselling Kindle poetry list ever since, including a couple of long stints as number one.

Three books of her seven book series the 'Alternative Poetry Books' (the Yellow edition, the Pink edition and the Blue edition) published by Endaxi Press can be found boynging in and out of the Amazon poetry bestsellers lists like demented toddlers on a bouncy castle.

As banana_the_poet she was voted the most popular human poet by the Twitter community in the Shorty Awards 2011.

Product Description

From the Publisher

The first book of a seven book series - Alternative Poetry Books - Yellow edition contains 62 poems. Funny/quirky light-hearted poems begin on odd numbered pages alternating with serious poems which begin on even numbered pages.

More humorous pieces Include such characters as a belligerent poet determined to fight off any 'flowery' readings of their work; a schoolboy with Asperger's who has his own reasons for never biting his teacher again and a family of gnomes who will accept any indignity rather than make a pot of tea out of turn.

The serious poems include some alternative views of personal loss, politics and some of the bleaker aspects of modern life.

Life is made up of dark and light moments and this book is intended to reflect life and the humour life is always capable of serving up, even when at its darkest.

These poems are written for adult readers and may not be suitable for readers under 14 years old.

Sincere apologies to my teacher

I'm sorry I bit Mrs ThreadGold,

it's not a thing I'd do twice.

Quite apart from the fact that I won't get the chance;

she didn't taste very nice.

I have been a fan of Banana's poetry for more than 2 years now, and her Alternative Poetry Books are just an absolute joy. Her poetry will make you by turn think about life and escape from it, laugh out loud, cry, and just fall in love with the joy of words. A delight

Michele Brenton is a poet for a new generation. Forget Wordsworth's nodding daffodils; this is poetry about life as we know it, but seen through the eyes of a rare talent. Michele has a different slant on life to most people. Poignant, wry, incisive, oh yes, all of these, but there's humour too, by the sackful. The ideal book for dipping into, refreshing your spirits when you're down perhaps? Or for just the sheer pleasure of reading a couplet that will make you think, a couplet that will make you laugh out loud, they're all here. If you always thought you didn't like poetry, don't give up, just read this collection. You may find you've changed your opinion. Fabulous!

This is a superb collection of poems and there's something to suit all tastes from the poignant to the laugh out loud funny.

My personal favourite is Tea Pot O'Trouble.

The book forms part of a series, so get in at the beginning and follow the entertainment.

I absolutely loved this book, it is a breath of fresh Welsh air blasting through the community. There is often a lot of snobbery attached to literature especially poetry, for me the most important thing is that people enjoy reading it. I am sure everyone would enjoy this little gem.

Banana the Poet is one of those rare souls who can capture both serious and fun moods.
I enjoyed all her poetry, but my absolute favourite was "Teapot of Trouble" - especially as I tend to end up making the cups of Tea at home!

This would be a great present for anyone!
