Read the first book two days ago out of a sense of curiosity - I like Kenyon as an author and the book description sounded intriguing. I devoured the first book and bought the second earlier today and have devoured this one even faster...
First of all, unlike Kenyon's usual works, this isn't strictly romance, but has some romantic elements anyway (most good books have a romance leaning after all even if it is a mild one). But what really gets me about this series is the action and suspense. It's overflowing with both, but not so much that it stifles the actual plot. Its nicely balanced in that respect - and although there were some scenes in the first book where I found my attention wandering, the second is, in comparison, addictive.
We have most of the main characters from the first book making appearances in this one, with some additional details about their pasts and their present and developing involvement/s with Evalle. We also get some more details about the mystery behind Alterants and what they are/where they come from - but not the whole picture, so still a lot to look forward to.
Great book and I really really want to read more! I just hope we don't have to wait too long for the next book.
