5.0 out of 5 stars Hard to fault this compact unit 19 Jun 2011
Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
You don't need to be a techno-wizard or purist to appreciate this lovely wireless Bluetooth speaker. Pairing it with my iPod was simple and took about a minute and immediately I was struck by the sound quality, which is rich and accurate with powerful bass and warm mid-tones. I couldn't detect any bass distortion even at higher volumes. There is an `expanded sound stage' button to `fill' a room with stereo sound if desired. To my ears this translates as a change in the acoustics, which is good across the range but the choice is personal preference.

The unit itself is lightweight yet feels and looks solidly built and is small enough to blend into any surroundings whatever décor you have - and if by chance it didn't, it looks good anyway in graphite.

There is an integrated rechargeable battery and the unit has good-sized buttons to control playback - play/pause, skip, volume, pairing and power. A slim-line remote control slots neatly into the side of the unit to fit flush with the housing and there is a generous indent at the back for easy carrying. For PCs there is a USB Bluetooth dongle that also has a headphone input and pairing buttons.

I tested the range of reception to approximately 25m indoors - at which point the sound began to cut out intermittently although the iPod was on a different floor to the speaker unit. I suppose a more powerful Bluetooth transmitter i.e. PC would have a greater range though.
Outdoors on level ground the unit was still receiving perfectly at 30m which is the limit of my garden!

I would thoroughly recommend this portable speaker system, I'm very impressed with its capability and it has now replaced its wired predecessor in my living room!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just too easy 5 Dec 2011

Excellent sound quality (accepting it's a portable). Very good low/mid range, top a little sharp, but I'm hyper-fussy. Probably 9/10 people wouldn't even notice. I usually listen to music through via AV receiver. Nothing lost through Bluetooth - I checked this by using the same source through the AUX socket - what a pleasant surprise, I though there'd be a least a slight downgrading.

But what a dream to set up! Using iTunes on a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.7/Lion)......: Open box. Unpack removing plastic battery tabs. Plug in to power socket to charge and switch on immediately. Plug in USB dongle. Go to SystemPrefs/Sound and select InMotion. Press Play. Listen! (The Bluetooth pairing seems to be automatic!)

The "Preferences" step isn't mentioned anywhere, I'd encountered something similar in the past, so I guessed! Windows may need something similar to switch the computer from its internal speakers.

The remote control successfully controls iTunes remotely (but won't remotely launch it under OS-X).

Given many similar makers unbundle their apt-x dongle and then charge an additional small fortune, this product is incredibly good value for money,

5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant 29 Aug 2011

This is a brilliant product. Perfect for the garden because there are no cables required. If using with a laptop you have to position carefully because the signal is disprupted if blocked by a body. Otherwise great sound, easy to use and great fun. Pick and choose which friends' sounds you will listen to via their smart phones! I'm extremely happy with this and it's a wow factor with friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great wireless speaker 27 Aug 2011

I ordered this speaker as I was keen to use it to play iPlayer and Spotify without the hassle of a cable connecting it to my laptop.
It is really easy to set up and use... it connects easily via bluetooth, or via the bluetooth dongle that they provide.
The sound quality is good and the fact it's portable is really useful (the battery life is quite long).
The speaker itself is quite compact.
It looks a touch ugly, but for the price its a great deal.
It comes with a European and UK plug, which is good given we live abroad.
A great buy overall.
The Amazon service was good too... I ordered it Sunday night and had it Tuesday morning, which given the distance was great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Portable, Wireless and good sound 15 July 2011
I needed something fairly lightweight, but with decent sound quality and the ability to link to my iTouch & iPad. The In Motion Air fits the bill. I paired it up with my i devices and it's working great. Sound quality is not on a par with bigger systems, but is enough for me when listening in the kitchen, bathroom or in my garage. I haven't used the bluetooth dongle supplied to link it to my computer, so I can't comment on that, as that's not what I bought the unit for.

The best part is the built-in rechargeable battery, making this truly portable and carried room to room as I please.Sound carries well for such a small unit, but lacks a bit of bass - again it's a portable unit and still adequate - just don't expect bass levels equivalent to a 2.1 speaker system.

Overall, I'd highly recommend this if you want true portability and wireless connection to bluetooth enabled devices.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product (What's this?)
There's a lot to love about this speaker.
Firstly the sound performance: I am no audiophile but I haven't noticed a massive difference between this and a BOSE ipod dock. Perhaps the more dedicated listener will, but I think for the average digital music enthusiast this is going to exceed expectations. The bass is punchy, it reproduces classical music beautifully and boy does it turn up loud!
It's truly portable with an internal rechargeable battery, a wireless antenna if your computer doesn't have bluetooth and a range that should cover the average family home.
Set up for portable devices is a breeze. I've been switching between using a bluetooth ipod touch & a mobile phone as my music sources. It takes seconds and only one button press to switch between them.

But as impressive and practical as the inMotion Air is, there's definitely room for improvement. Mostly with the remote control.

The buttons are unresponsive, both on the remote and the speaker unit itself. You have to press the play/pause buttons in a certain way to get them to work. I got used to this but it still frustrates me sometimes. There's always going to be a slight delay as the controls are effectively a bluetooth remote for your music device. But often a button press doesn't register at all.
Also, the sensor area for the remote control is restricted, if you're at an awkward angle from the unit you really have to aim to get the thing to turn on from stand by or to adjust the volume.
I've often ended up using the play/pause and volume controls on my music devices as they are less of a faff.
