Product Description

Manufacturer's Description

Wander around the house and take your music with you. Run it on battery power or plug it in. Either way, the inMotion Max churns out lush sound from your iPod or iPhone, or from it's built-in FM radio.

Accurate sound representation comes from twin full-spectrum speakers, and XdB technology supplies the deep bass without the subwoofer. ESS sound-widening technology expands the sound to fit any room, giving enhanced stereo separation. And, when somebody calls your iPhone, the music pauses to allow you to take the call.

Product Description

Altec Lansing IMT702 inMotion MAX Speakers iPod iPhone

Why We Like It
Because this speaker has advanced technology for superb bass and is immune from mobile phone interference.

Summary
The Altec Lansing IMT702 inMotion MAX Speaker has precision-matched speakers to deliver crisp, full-spectrum sound and XdB bass-enhancement for deep bass without the need for a subwoofer.
The music automatically pauses when a call is taken on the iPhone and with a unique design that's immune to mobile phone interference, you won't hear any of those annoying 'wap...wap...wap' sounds when the phone rings. If you get what we mean?
The FM clock radio with amber LCD displays song and FM stations (with RDS) and with ESS technology the stereo image is widened to fill a room with rich sounds.
The enhanced remote control can adjust the speaker functions, radio and song navigation while the Li-ion battery provides up to 3.5 hours of playing time so you can feel free to un-plug.

We just treated ourselves to one of these for Christmas to replace a dying Aiwa micro-system in the dining/kitchen. The size is perfect and sounds great, I tested this alongside many others in John Lewis and this stood out for sound quality and size vs price. It is portable and can be unplugged and carried into other rooms, it fills both dining room and kitchen with sound thta is loud enough to have to shout over and can be heard clearly upstairs at that sort of volume. It isn't going to replace my main audio setup but for what we needed it for is perfect. Mine came with a purpose built carry case and would be great for a picnic or to use in the garden for a bbq (the rechargeable battery lasts for hours).
If you are an audio purist then as mentioned elsewhere you might want a dedicated Bose dock (and you'll pay £250) but i'm glad i got this.
Finally, i have listened to SKA & Reggae, funk soul as well as classical and jazz and all sounded good to me.

Doesn't have quite as much "oomph" as my old iPod Hifi (the big brick) but loads more features, terrific portability (it will happily fit into my backpack when I cycle to Wimpole St), and good quality sound at low to middling volume. As a occasionally peripatetic bodywork therapist it is perfect for delivering appropriate music as an accompaniment to my ministrations. It can also double as a bedside radio/alarm.

Bought this to use in the kitchen and needed a good dock which had a radio and didn't get phone interference so I could use my iphone and not risk missing calls/texts.

Had it for a week and the sound is excellent, the radio picks up the stations well and of course no interference. Plus has the added advantage that you can take it on the move with the built in battery.

Can't think of another ipod dock that works with iphone, has a radio, good sound and portable all for under £100, excellent bit of kit.

annoying
firstly the music output is ok, a bit tinny but acceptable. The other major pro is the builtin battery so you can use this outdoors say without needing batteries. Read more
