All I wanted was a way of using my iPhone as an alarm. I, quite honestly, got fed up with the sheer amount and conflicting reviews of the many alarm clock's out there before I found this unit.
It does exactly what I want, charges my phone and amplifies the alarm app. There's a light strip at the front which is very unobtrusive and a nice colour.
Only one problem and that's there is no caddy for the iPhone 4, so it isn't as robust as it could be.
Apart from that, I'm very happy with it. Altec Lansing are a great make of speaker, and I always seem to gravitate toward them.

I bought this for my immensly fussy and pedantic partner as a Christmas present while I was waiting for him to decide what he wanted for his "ultimate" iPod dock. It was just meant to be a stop gap, so I wasn't too bothered if he didn't really go for it.
When we tried it out, we were amazed. It's absolutely tiny. You don't really get an idea of the scale from the images, but it's totally portable.
And the sound quality is really good. Ok, so it's nowhere near what you'd get from a proper hi-fi or dock, and it's not going to fill a room full of party animals. But it's clear, not at all tinny, with decent bass and more than enough welly to listen to while you're puttering about.
There are no fiddly controls. Just plug it in - it switches itself on when you connect your iPod in the top slot. And it charges it too.
So fussy partner is happy, and I liked it so much, I just ordered one for myself.
