More About the Author

I am a UK based writer, living in the southeast of England. I mostly write historical fiction and fantasy, although I also have been known to write a bit of Science Fiction now and again.

My favourite authors include Gene Wolfe, Ursula le Guin and Iain Banks, and I'm currently getting into Dan Simmons and Neal Stephenson. Outside SF&F I enjoy the thrillers of Robert Harris and I love Tolstoy's War and Peace.

I am also the Editor of Alt Hist, the new magazine of Historical Fiction and Alternate History.

All eight stories fall under the general heading of Historical Fiction, but they vary greatly in sub-genres, from whodunit to fantasy, from horror to humor. At 90 pages, it's very short, but this is a magazine, not a book. And it's *FREE*, so one can't complain.

The stories vary in length, in setting, and frankly, in quality. My favorites were Long Nights in Languedoc; The Apollo Mission (the only true Alt-History story in the bunch); The Orchid Hunters; and The Scarab of Thutmose. YMMV.

3 Stars, mostly because, like any anthology, some of the stories will resonate with you; some won't. With such an eclectic mix, at least one of the stories will float your boat.

Interesting collection of tales and reviews. I will likely hunt up a copy of Issue 3 to see what new tales appear.
