Bought these to replace standard speakers in my Octavia RS because one of them had started to rattle. On opening the box I was very disappointed by the quality, especially the somewhat flimsy chassis of the speakers which is made of plastic. Also the wire supplied must be the thinnest and cheapest I have ever come across and they don't have proper crossovers. I very nearly sent them straight back only I was desperate to get sounds back in my car and Alpine is after all a supposedly good brand. On completion of the installation I put on a CD and was completely underwhelmed by the sound which was clear but the bass was what I would call non existent. I tried swapping the wires on one speaker to see if I had installed them out of fase, I hadn't, and they sounded even worse. Finally the answer came with the expense of installing an amp and subwoofer which did wonders for the bottom end but I still found the sound to be thin. Happily I have now been using the system for three or four weeks, and I've got to say that they are improving greatly with use. The sound is now much fuller, but you will need that extra help for the bass.
