What Other Items Do Customers Buy After Viewing This Item?
I bought this item for my wife's Nissan car as it was more affordable than the Nissan offering. She has only had it for a few days but it is great.
We got it to have Bluetooth for making calls and playing music from her iPhone 5. DVD playback is excellent but I don't imagine we will use this feature.
The touchscreen it easy to use and very shasp picture quality. Due to this I decided to link in a reversing camera and am very impressed with it. A friend fitted it all for me, admittedly he does this for a living but certainly the fitting of the head unit appeared fairly simple.
The fitter advised me to perform the USB update which was unbelievably simple. I did have need to contact Alpine support by email (I had done something silly with a setting and was embarrassed to admit to my friend). An Alpine advisor contacted me promptly with the solution.
Please note there is a firmware update and a Bluetooth software update required for iPhone5 and probably other recent phones. The Bluetooth update is performed by Bluetooth, whereas the firmware can be dome by USB.

iPod connectivity - plays music from your iPod and displays all the coverart and track information with the headunit's nice clean, sharp GUI USB / MP3 CD compatibility - plays music from your USB storage device or from an MP3 CD. Search options aren't quite as good for these as with the iPod but still pretty decent DVD playback - nice as an extra feature, but picture quality isn't amazing Bluetooth audio - for some reason I have limited success with playing music off my phone by bluetooth through the headunit Handsfree calling - works well. Voices are fairly clear and I don't have much problem getting others to hear me as long as I speak up
Missing features: Voice recognition for handsfree calling would be really useful WAV audio format is not supported when playing from USB/MP3 CD/iPod Adding sat nav to this heaunit costs more than the headunit - better off getting a £100 TomTom A bit slow with the searches and returning to music with iPod after making a call
Aside from some fairly minor niggles this is a great headunit for a very fair price, which had great sound quality. If you partner it with similar quality speakers/amps etc then you won't be disappointed and you really will get the best from it. The standout feature and my main use for it is with my ipod. Even if you have an old Nano or something lying about, this headunit is clearly designed to work best with iPods, so connect it up and stick it away in the glovebox. I've never had so much access to as much of my music in my car before - it's great!
