Product Description

Synopsis

Through the beautiful and inspiring journal and book arts projects presented in this unique volume, Lynne Perrella brings together a substantial compendium of cutting-edge collage techniques, many devised by the leading artists and teachers working in that field today, that can be integrated into several art forms: Journals, memory albums, altered books, artist's books, scrapbooks and more. Heavily technique oriented, this book grew from a collaborative art project, initiated by Lynne Perrella, involving 14 artists. The project was based on the open-ended theme of Letters and Numbers, which is why it is now called "Alphabetica." This book, although focused on "collage" techniques, dovetails with the current sustained interest in several artforms: Art Journals, Personal Scrapbooks & Chronicles, Memory Books, Artist Books, Altered Books and Objects.

Simply the best! 19 May 2007
By Mozzi
Format:Paperback
Having read the reviews by the other readers on this page I bought the book - and they were exactly right in what they say.

So many pictures to look at for inspiration and lots of "how to's" make this such a great reference book - if you are in any doubt about buying it, don't be - it really is brilliant and worth every penny!

It is certainly one of the best books in my vast book collection.

....after a long wait I have finally just got this book, and like the first it is inspiration! The work in this book just brings your mind alive with ideas and you will have the sudden urge to climb into this book! The colours, the textures just leap off the pages! Like the first you will never get enough of this book, you will have to keep going back for more....and if your only starting out in Journaling/Collaging/Book Art ...well then this will be your addiction now go and try your best to absorb it all, because this is the book to inspire! :)

This book is up to Lynne Perrella's usual beautiful standard and is overflowing with ideas. As it says in the title, it is an "A to Z Creativity Guide". If you are after techniques, then Perrella's Artists' Journal and Sketchbooks: Exploring and Creating Personal Pages has pages of techniques and examples and is probably a good starting point for the beginner. That being said, "Alphabetica" is an inspiring book and even if you don't have the time to have a go yourself, you'll love just looking through the high quality colourful images.
