Great cast, really enjoyable, watched all in a single sitting. John Goodman is especially on great form throughout the series.

Not really much of a reviewer, but I find it hits on similar notes to The Office and Parks and Recs in the sense of providing a comedy element to an otherwise serious job position.

Episodes are based around elections, gaining voters and political power plays, not the most fertile ground for a comedy series but considering the aforementioned paper sales company and government parks and recreations department that isn't really a problem.

Casting is pretty awesome and while most characters lack a detailed backstory, they are diverse enough to provide something positive to the show and didn't find myself hating that "one person".

Goodman's character is enjoyable to watch and Louis's occasional feminine and slightly stereotypical gay moments as they are portrayed in the show are pretty funny; him (minor spoiler) interviewing cleaning ladies with red wine stress tests comes to mind.

As someone who has grown up in England, I'm not sure on the realism/stereotyping regarding the accents but I found the stronger ones entertaining in small doses.

Call me biased towards anything with John Goodman but watched entire series in one night and forget to do uni work 5/5.

I refreshingly funny take on Washington. Every episode leaves you wanting more. Well cast and brilliantly written. A perfect mix of character development and humour.

Amazon has done well with 'Alpha House' - it is genuinely funny with an excellent ensemble cast and even better writing. The first episode is okay but this is to be expected as the cast attempts to a grip on the material and us viewers, especially in the UK, try and understand the unfamiliar setting but the series really gets better and better and by the fourth episode you will be committed to 'Alpha House' for as long as it lasts and then some.

There are some really good ideas here and the writing is spot on bringing out the absurdity of partisan politics and the effect lobbyists with huge payouts ultimately have on both government and the wider society through the machinations of 4 Republican Senators who share a house (Washington DC is one of the most expensive places to live in). Three of the four are involved in re-election races within the GOP and all are worried about losing to candidates who are so far to the right that our lot are considered moderates or even 'lefties' within the party. This fear and insecurity leads to chaotic decision-making and ill-thought strategies that make for funny situations and encounters. The last member of the quartet is a smooth Latino lothario whose billionaire girlfriend is grooming him for the presidency.

There are some negatives - a few stereotypes and situations but overall this is a refreshingly funny comedy series set in American Politics. Recommended!

Garry Trudeau and Amazon could well be on to a winner here. Alpha House is a great original comedy that pokes fun at the Republican party without ever getting too political, with water-tight writing and great performances - particularly from Clark Johnson as Robert Bettencourt – wrapping everything up in a hilarious sitcom, one of the best I’ve watched in recent memory.

Very funny. Probably more realistic than "The West Wing"! Looking forward to the series. However, I think it's ridiculous that I must type in superfluous words before Amazon will let me submit my review. This is supposed to be entertainment!

I am not a big TV watcher by any means but I love this. It made me frequently laugh out loud - it most obviously pokes fun at some Republican stereotypes but it has Democrats and politicians generally as targets too. The series becomes increasingly layered with the Ruby Shoals episode being particularly poignant. I really hope that there is a second series - it's just the top quality that you would expect from Gary Trudeau.
