Product Description

Gangsta life on a white tip as good white boys pretend to be bad black boys. Johnny Truelove (Emile Hirsch) is the leader of a pack of small-time hoods in late 90s Claremont , California. These white boys strut around, smoking dope, talking like the protagonists in the heavy rap songs they listen endlessly to and calling everyone in sight 'bitch'. They're not particularly impoverished, they live in pretty nice areas and don't have much need to resort to crime but they do anyway and when finally called upon to put up or shut up they go a step too far. Jake Mazursky, (Ben Foster) a fellow dealer has failed to repay a loan and furthermore failed to respect The Truelove. To make sure Jake knows he means business, Johnny and his pals Elvis (Shawn Hatosy), Bobby 911 (Alex Solowitz) and Frankie (Justin Timberlake) kidnap Jake's younger brother Zach (Anton Yelchin). Wantonness ensues as the tenure of this kidnapping turns into one long party in which, for example, Zach loses his virginity in a threesome. An ensemble cast sees Bruce Willis do a turn as Truelove's dad and elsewhere Sharon Stone and Harry Dean Stanton also turn in bit parts.

5.0 out of 5 stars Seriously powerful 21 Aug 2007
By H VINE™ VOICE
Format:DVD
You might think that being based on the true life tale of Jesse James Hollywood (it's really only the names that are changed), all the tension would be gone from this movie - we all already know the ending, right? In this case, however, that doesn't happen, and that's totally down to the relationship between Anton Yelchin as the eventual victim and Justin Timberlake (yes, I know he's a pretty boy singer but the guy can and does act extremely well in this movie). It's heartbreaking to watch the story unfold and you really feel for this poor, trusting kid who honestly believes that his kidnappers are cool guys and that they'll be taking him home after a few beers and spliffs. Ben Foster also puts in an amazing show, but the entire cast is excellent and they're what keeps the film believable.

It is an excellent movie and well worth a watch but as per the drug culture it depicts every other word out of their mouths is an expletive so if you're not into swearing, then this is probably one to avoid. I urge you not to though, because there's a very real story under here.

5.0 out of 5 stars What an amazing film 23 Aug 2007
Format:DVD
I never got a chance to see this in the cinema so went out and got it as soon as it hit the shops. Well worth the money. It had me gripped from start to finish. Based on true events, the story was good, acting good ( yes JT too ) and the ending was very moving. I couldnt get it out of my head even days after seeing it. Go buy this movie

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good! 21 Sep 2007
Format:DVD
Just finished watchin this film and it was awesome. As people have said before, it went from party time to edge of your seat "i cant believe it happened" sort of thing.

JT is good - very realistic and all the other cast our outstanding.

Not knowing it was based on true events, it becomes obvious during it it is. Very very impressed.
