If you're anything like me, then you'll know that there is nothing better than a good creepy story before bedtime. This book is a nice little treasure chest of good creepy stories. There are two things that make this book awesome. Firstly, the variety of content is excellent. The first part of the book contains original horror fiction, ranging from the psychotic to the supernatural. Parts two and three contain true stories of the paranormal, as well as tales derived from what appear to be urban legends. The combination of original horror fiction and true stories works very well. No matter which type of horror you prefer, you're bound to find something good here.
The other thing that makes this book awesome is the convenience factor. In today's world of Technological Attention Deficit Disorder, it's not always easy to find that all too elusive quiet time for reading. But most of the stories in this book are short enough to read in one sitting. So whether you're on your lunch break, on the bus, or you just need a quick dose of terror before drifting off to the land of dreams and nightmares, you'll find that these stories are the perfect length for a quick fix to satisfy your horror addiction.
A few of my personal favorites are THE GLOOM, THE OLD QUIET ROAD, and BARREN. All three of which are sure to haunt your dreams long after you've finished reading. Those tales gave me the creeps, and that's not an easy thing to do to a seasoned horror fan such as myself.
So if you love horror, and if you appreciate a good variety of it, then you would do well to find yourself ALONE IN THE WOODS.
