I loved this book, I was lost in every single page of it. It's absolutely tragic, my heart was breaking for him.

I don't think that any other book has left me with so many questions. It stayed with me for ages, I rarely think that I'll read a book again, but one day I'll revisit this one.

If you've read it, you'll know what I mean ...it was so real, but why, how and really? What a great story.

As I mainly read crime/thriller fiction thought I'd give this book a go for a change.
I still have a lump in my throat and wiping away tears after just having finished it.Alone is by no means soppy or sentimental and is packed with nail-biting moments. I would definately read this book again.

I downloaded this free book expecting a repetition of a story told many times before...this was not the case, and as such I was left wondering why the usual emotive issues hadn't been addressed. This is a book which leaves you reflecting upon it's meaning. The whys and wherefores are not deeply delved into, but then that isn't the point of the book. In this book we witness how man can survive in the face of extreme challenge by using the very materials that earth and man gave us....in an almost waiting for godot style we can appreciate the determination of man to survive and hope whatever adversity. Our place on earth among our fellow bedfellows is also highlighted. The dominance of nature and other habitants allows us to appreciate the power of our natural earth and our tenuous hold over it.
It is upon reflection a genius premise. It doesn't fulfill stereo types with regard to this subject, but it does dare to go where no man has been before...

First off, this book's premise and plot aren't its biggest problems. The 'last man alive' idea is a great one, and is always going to draw readers in however many times it's been done before, and the plot, although low-key, has just enough (mostly believable) drama to keep you reading. The book's biggest problems for me were its very simplistic style of writing - lots of short sentences consisting of 'he did this' followed by 'he then did that', and the lack of character development - the protagonist is the same person at the end of the book as he was at the start: calm, resourceful, and, sadly, pretty dull. Add to that some annoying, rambling, digressions from the plot early on in the book, the fact that some of the main character's abilities and activities stretch credulity to breaking point (is there anything he can't do?), and the fact that the book badly needed proof-reading and some serious editing before it was released, and you end up with a mixed bag. Still, it kept me reading to the end, hence the three stars.
If, on the other hand, you want to take it as a manual of what you should do if you happen to find yourself in a similar situation, four stars.

Because the story of the 'last man on earth' is one that intrigues readers it is tempting to begin this book with preconceived ideas. I expected a rip roaring post apocalyptic adventure but this book isn't that.

However I did enjoy this book despite it not meeting my initial expectations I really enjoyed the book.
I was immediately engaged by the story which as other reviewers have stated is a day to day account of what the main character (Ralph) does to survive being alone. The bit about the rats and the bear certainly raised the excitement levels.

I agree that there is little exploration of the main character's emotions but it didn't detract from my enjoyment.I was touched by the relationship between Ralph and his dog and I found those parts of the story very moving.

I must admit that the ending left me a little bemused and there are some typos in the book but for a free down load it is readable and engaging.

I enjoy reading about dystopian worlds but what i think makes this stand out is that this is our world today, yesterday was fine and dandy and today everyone else is just gone! There is no climate change fireball that wipes everyone else out there is no massive catastrophe or robot uprising He just wakes up!

I like that fact that things you would not necessarily consider when thinking this through are included and that it follows ecological streams and that it could really happen because there is no scientific proof that its not happening such as a robot uprising!

To think that you are the only person in the world is for one second the most terrifying thought ever but even then you can't fully experience this as it hasn't happened.

A truely wonderfull story that makes the reader think and question what you understand about life.

The ending was brilliant I was worried that it would go the easy way out but it doesnt (i dont want to ruin it!)

From beginning to end I loved this book.
Sure there are a few grammatical errors and spelling mistakes throughout the novel, please don't let that put you off picking this up.

I went into this book expecting a sci-fi post apocalyptic story but soon realised it was more a story of copying with life after the event.
The author could have went into why Raplh was the only one left but for me that was not needed as your too engrossed in how Ralph and Jason will survive in this 'new world'.

If you haven't already, pick up this book and for such a low price you can not go wrong.
