Product Description

Product Description

ALMS FOR OBLIVION is a series of ten novels, all telling separate stories but at the same time linked together by the characters they have in common: soldiers and dons, men of business, politicians and writers. Full of hearty rancour, they form a scathing chronicle of the upper echelons of postwar English society.

Format:Paperback
After the all-change generation of the 1st book of the 1st volume, and from Fielding Gray's soujoun in the sappers, we rapidly discovered his forthcoming friends and enemies in very high places. Here in the 2nd volume of the continuing stories of Lancaster College in general, and the upper ranks of the publishing and ruling class in particular, the international friends and enemies of Major Grey all come in for the Simon Raven treatment, and the inventiveness and bitterness that he can convey is second to none. Simon Raven has struck gold and if readers keep digging, the rewards they will gain from Alms for Oblivion Vol II are immense.
