Product Description

Product Description

In this classic novel of two willful lovers caught in a breathless adventure of deception and betrayal, #1 "New York Times" bestselling author Judith McNaught has created a powerful and unforgettable masterpiece.

ELIZABETH CAMERON

The Countess of Havenhurst possessed a rare gentleness and fierce courage to match her exquisite beauty. But her reputation is shattered when she is discovered in the arms of Ian Thornton, a notorious gambler and social outcast.

IAN THORNTON

A dangerously handsome man of secret wealth and mysterious lineage, his voyage to Elizabeth's heart is fraught with intrigue, scandal, and a venomous revenge.

Destined for each other, yet wary of each other's motives, Elizabeth and Ian engage in a dance of suspicion and passion that tests the very soul of their star-crossed love. As a twisting path of secrets takes them from London's drawing rooms to the mysterious Scottish Highlands, Elizabeth must learn the truth: is Ian merely a ruthless fortune hunter at heart?

From the Back Cover

No beauty in England could outshine Elizabeth Cameron, Countess of Havenhurst. But beneath her exquisite emerald eyes and cloud of golden hair, lived a girl of rare gentleness, good humour, and a splendid, even ferocious courage. In Ian Thornton's powerful embrace, Elizabeth felt the first stirrings of a passion that blazed through her senses. Yet for Thornton, a dangerously handsome man of secret wealth and mysterious lineage, the voyage to Elizabeth's heart was fraught with intrigue, scandal, and a venomous jealousy. From the elegant salons of London, to the wild beauty of the Scottish Highlands, their tempestuous, dramatic romance was played out, a romance between two lovers destined for each other, even though they refused to admit it. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

Magnificent romance 13 Aug 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
ALMOST HEAVEN is Judith's greatest work ever. Ian and Elizabeth are fully developed and their personality are so powerful that you long to meet them. Both are amazing, strong, charismatic and a bit unconventional. They're not your usual JM hero and heroine. Ian Thornton cannot be beaten by the other JM heroes. He's the best hero Judith ever created. Elizabeth Cameron is one of the most beautiful heroines I've ever read - inside and outside. She's less fiesty than the other JM heroines but she's spunky and spirited in her own way. She's not a victim. ALMOST HEAVEN is romance at its very best. If you haven't read this book, you don't know what you're missing.

Enjoyable Romance 7 Aug 2000
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
Elizabeth's wealthy but stingy uncle can't wait to get her off his hands, so he writes to fifteen suitors who previously offered for her hand in marriage. But that was two years ago, before Elizabeth became involved in a scandal that destroyed her reputation and made her persona non grata in society circles... Bravely facing her difficulties, Elizabeth meets the three suitors that may still be prepared to marry her. A thoroughly enjoyable read, this novel is not without its flaws , most noticeably scant historical detail and reliance upon clichees. But it is amply redeemed by its fast pace and irreverent humor.
