Leslie Thomas's Almost Heaven is a great book for taking on holiday or reading late at night as it's small bites of fascinating information about Salisbury Cathedral,it's environs and it's personalities are not too long but also leave you wanting to find out more.
I have been moved to explore more titles about the people and places mentioned.

Almost Heaven 15 Oct 2010
Format:Hardcover
Fantastic read, typical Leslie Thomas style. Especially interesting if you are familiar with the Cathedral Close and surrounding area. Full of historical gems and Leslie has the gift of breathing life back into characters some of whom may have died hundreds of years ago. His research and attention to detail as always is meticulous. It is funny, informative and sometimes sad, especially relating to the plight of the choir boys in years past. I will now forever look at the Cathedral and Close in a totally different light. Whats next Leslie?

Readable 21 July 2011

Format:Hardcover
I am a very big fan of Leslie Thomas, otherwise I may not have bought the book. It tells a good story about the times and characters around Salisbury. Mr Thomas is obviously close to the subject and his little anecdotes show this. I would rather have had Dangerous Davis blundering around Salisbury uncovering little tidbits about the city. Enjoyable anyway.
