5.0 out of 5 stars engaging urban young teen fantasy 7 Feb 2012
By Harriet Klausner - Published on
In humid hot St. Paul, hybrid witch-vampire Anastasija Parker's sort of boyfriend purebred vamp Elias Constantine lives in the basement of the home of her mom, queen of the witches. Though Ana's dad is the king of the St. Paul vampires, she knows vamps and witches are natural enemies. Yet her mom and Elias enjoy discussing 1970s nostalgia while treating Ana like a terrible two year old for calling that era ancient history.

Meanwhile her ex Nikolai Korov the Russian-Romany rock star wants a second round with Ana, but, he is the junior vampire slayer, which makes for a dysfunctional relationship when your GF is the vampire princess. She also is hounded by high school hockey star turned actor mundane Matthew Thompson. However, relationship dynamics fade when the Prince of the Southern Region vampires Luis David Montezuma arrives; demanding a replacement mate since Anna freed Khan from a marriage alliance between the two regions or war will occur. Ana mentions she has no one to offer except Elias; Montezuma accepts, but Ana explains her dad banished them. War between the regions seems likely unless Ana can find a way to prevent the hostilities.

The boys of summer in the city heat up St. Paul as the teen protagonist finds she misses her simpler geek days rather than deal poorly with witch and vampire politics along with men wanting her. The final Vampire Princess urban young teen fantasy (see Almost Final Curtain and Almost To Die For) is an engaging fast-paced thriller as the dhampir heroine learns life is convoluted when you are the potential heir to the region's witch and vampire thrones while seemingly every male besides Dr. Who wants her.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Vampire Tale with a Twist 30 April 2012
By Brandi's Book Musings - Published on
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Almost Everything picks up where Almost Final Curtain left off. ana has to contend with her conflicting worlds of vampires and witches, all while trying to figure out which of her many guys she wants to be with. Should she pick Nik the uber sexy rock 'n' roll witch, the chivalrous vampire living in her basement Elias, or the former enemy jock turned theatre buddy Thompson? By the end of the story I still hadn't decided who I wanted her to be with. Some people might say that three guys liking her is a little excessive and it kind of is, but I liked it. This installment was more action packed and drama filled than the previous one. The ever present dilemma that Ana and her friends have to solve was heavier and more life threatening than usual. She grew as a character and come into her own person in Almost Everything. Another side of her mom, dad, Thompson, Nik, and especially Elias is shown. Readers are able to learn a lot more about the background of Elias and Thompson as well as getting a taste of other vampire colonies ( is that the right word?). I loved how Tate continued to build this extremely unique take on vampires and witches.
There isn't really anything I wish was different with the book. I just wish that Bea had been more present. There's just something about her bitchiness that makes her a favorite. Lastly, lets talk about the cover. What happened? The first two were so pretty with the white backgrounds and contrasting clothes and hair. This one is definitely not my favorite. Not only does it not look the same they don't even have the same textures. Maybe I'm just picky, but I'm upset they don't match.
I am a huge fan of Tate Hallaway and a huge fan of this series. All I can say is that PLEASE let there be a fourth book. With the ending I'm not sure if there is or isn't. I give this book a 4 STAR rating.

Almost Everything...A Vampire Princess Novel
Tate Hallaway

My "in a nutshell" summary...

Ana Parker...half witch, half vampire...and the funniest heroine in trouble yet again!

My thoughts after reading this book... the most lovable freak accident prone dhampyr ever! I so love this series. Ana is such a sassy spunky character and the premise is quite believable. Vampires and witches live in Minnesota...they know each other exists and some humans know they exist...including Ana's newest boyfriend. Ana's mom is the queen of the witches...Ana the Vampire Princess...and lots of problems and issues seem to surround both of them.

This time Ana has to come up with a solution to the vampires bloodthirsty chilling hunt...and what she comes up with makes for an intense part of this novel.

What I loved about this book...

I love the characters...their subtle humor and personalities. I loved Ana's dating issues. I adore Elias...the vampire who lives in her basement and was blood bound to Ana.

What I did not love...

Hmmm...this book did not have a dull the answer to this self imposed question is not one thing.

Final thoughts...

Everything about this book was fun and exciting. Even the scary bits are in perspective and a necessary part of this book. This is the third book in this uniquely fun series!

5.0 out of 5 stars BEST 12 Aug 2012

My Thoughts: Another cute novel by Hallaway! I love this series so much!

We are back with Ana who you may remember from the previous two books. She’s part vampire/part witch. This sure does complicate things in her life! And we also are back with her awesome best friend and the two guys who she pines after. Elias and her ex-boyfriend Nik. Both are still irresistible. But, there is also a new guy in the picture. He goes to her school and his name is Thompson. He’s a sweet guy and he is very understanding.

There is a lot of plot in this one and I don’t want to expand too much. Its fun to learn all the ups and downs that are going down and how huge the plot is in this one. And it’s Ana’s responsibility (so she thinks) to find a reasonable solution to help everyone.

I really enjoyed this series! And, the ending. Well, I wanted things to end differently but you never know what could happen if their are more books.

I think this series is all about the characters for me. I love learning about them. I love experiencing things with them. And the plot keeps them on their toes.

Overall: I just overall love this series and I think this may have been my favorite one. I found myself laughing at things and smiling at how Ana reacts to things. I really love this series and the characters.

Cover: Love it! I always enjoy these covers. They are simple but neat!
